I was exceedingly disappointed with DiFiore's Ice Cream. I went for lunch on a visit to Pittsburgh, and our group ordered a Club Sandwich, a Fish Sandwich, and Perogies. To start, the Perogies were undercooked and were very soggy. The Club Sandwich was average but was exceedingly overpriced. The fish sandwich was good, but the bun was way too small, and the sandwich was sizzling hot and burned my tongue. This would not be a problem if I was warned about its heat, but I was not. And going back to the pricing, the pricing was ridiculous for the food we were being served. When talking about the service, I have to separate the wonderful lady who was taking our order and the insolent owner. The lady who took our order was kind, but we were being glared at by the owner in the background the whole time during our order at the side window. When we were full, I ended up going back to the window to get a box, but after repedly trying to call for the lady, I overheard her being yelled at by the rude owner. There are also some very odd policies there that seem extremely outdate. The two in question are that there is a storefront, but apparently, it is closed to the public, and you are only allowed to use the side window. The second is a cash only policy. This just is not convenient, especially in 2024, when some people only pay using digital cards on their phone. If you care about yourself and the employees of this shop, do not go here and support its...
Read morei’ve been wanting to try this place for awhile but was incredibly disappointed. first of all i was baffled by the rudeness of the owner (i believe it was the owner). when we went up to the window i greeted him but all he said was “what do you want” and he wasn’t even looking at us. personally, if you’re running a business and want customers to have a good experience, at least look at them and greet them when they’re talking to you. the most frustrating part was that he was laughing and talking to the people who were in front of us. another thing is that when he was giving us our change he literally threw the quarter out the window at us. that sure doesn’t make me want to interact with him ever again. second of all they’re cash only. which isn’t a big deal especially since there’s an atm next door, but it’s 2025 and some people only pay with apple pay/google pay on their phones. it’s just a large inconvenience that i feel could easily be improved on. honestly, i think they would get more business if they took cards. to top it all off, the ice cream wasn’t even that good and i paid $10 for a waffle cone with vanilla soft serve and sprinkles. the ice cream was like whip cream texture and nothing like normal soft serve. definitely not worth $10. unfortunately, we...
Read moreIf you just want ice cream and don’t care how much it will cost or if the people are nice, then sure it’s a fine place. But if you care about those other two things don’t come here.
The ice cream is just OK, but it tastes no better than store brand ice cream in my opinion. They also charge an extra $.80 for nuts which were literally a small palm full maybe the size of a quarter (I figured for that price it would’ve been more). Additionally, they do not take cards, only cash, you don’t get an receipt, and they don’t give samples of the different flavors so you won’t know if you like one until you try it. Personally, I do not recommend the churro flavor.
Regarding the customer service, I don’t think I’ve had a worse experience. First, who I think is the owner took a personal phone call right at the window. Then when we were ready to order he just asked “what do you want.” And he slammed the window whenever he closed it (probably like 5 times). It just made us feel very unwelcome and we will not be going back because of it. I can deal with high price occasionally, but not being...
