Honestly not that great. I've had a lot better food in the area, but La Bodega isn't necessarily bad either. It's just underwhelming in my opinion. I tried their Ranchero burrito, the churros, and the horchata (rice based sweet drink). The Ranchero burrito was very strangely acidic. I didn't think it would be this lemony/limey. It also had way too much cilantro for my liking. Inside of the burrito, there was meat, fries, beans, onions, and rice. The rice was decently cooked and relatively good, as were the beans. I was not a huge fan of the meat. It was stringy and not flavorful. The rices were okay but got a bit soggy. I couldn't tell if there was cheese in there or not (if there was, definitely not enough). The outside was a bit soggy (some sort of white sauce, probably sour cream-based), and the price for the portion was too high. Would not recommend. The churros were decent, but did not strike me as particularly good. The texture was hard and a bit stale. They had a fair bit of sugar. The inside wasn't gooey and caramely as I had hoped. They serve it with house made dulce de leche, and while I thought that would be creamy and sweet, it was watery and mostly flavorless. My favorite part of the meal was probably the horchata. This was unique and quite good. The portion was great for the price. They did add too much ice for my liking, but the flavor was definitely good. Just the right amount of cinnamon and sweetness. A good drink for someone who doesn't want to be bombarded with sugar. All in all, the place isn't necessarily bad, it's just underwhelming. The flavors for the savory food were too acidic, and the churros were very meh. Portions didn't make up for the price. Would recommend other places over La Bodega.

Came in because I was at REI and was looking for something good around South Side. Glad I saw this on Maps because it is delicious, filling, authentic, and cheap! I ordered the nachos with chicken. The flavor was amazing. Fair warning, one of the sauces they put on is very garlicky, to the point that I was brushing twice later that night to get the smell out of my mouth. I like garlic so I wasn’t too perturbed but it is something I would keep in mind when going next time. The watermelon fresca was very delicious and refreshing, complementing my nachos very well. The churros with the sauce is also great, a perfect way to end the meal. I had another whole portion for tomorrow’s lunch, so it is definitely worth the money. I would recommend it to everyone I know, especially if they are looking for authentic, fresh, filling, delicious, and just overall amazing mexican food. Update: I returned and had the burrito bodega box with the pineapple fresca. Delicious! Very refreshing on the fresca's side and deliciously filling on the burrito's side. I would recommend using one of the homemade hot sauces. They aren't very spicy and just add to the flavor.

Definitely go to other Mexican eateries if you’re craving Mexican food. The lunch special sounded nice and to be honest the portion was good, but still wasn’t worth it. The burrito was big but tasted odd and fell apart immediately. Had to eat it with a fork and knife which isn’t what you want from a burrito. It seemed to be missing cheese and for some reason had zucchini randomly in it. I really did not like the burrito and my stomach was upset all day. The lunch special comes with chips and salsa and two churros. I had to remind them about this part ten minutes in. The chips were fine but the salsa wasn’t the best. Actually tasted better dipping the chips in the dulce de leche that came with the churros. The churros were the best part of the meal tbh. So maybe come here if you’re craving churros and can’t find them anywhere else at the hour.

This place used to be great and one of my favorites, but recently I've been overly disappointed with them. I ordered from here last night through Ubereats and the first problem I immediately noticed was that they forgot BOTH of my drinks, not only that but I typically order between 2 or 3 containers of crema on the side because I absolutely love this sauce, however, they recently raised the prices for one container from 1.50 to 2 dollars and not only that but they changed the containers they previously used which were decently sized now they come in the smallest to-go containers they could find and is absolute NOT worth 2 dollars not even the 1.50 it previously was. Not only that they also forgot the Salsa Verde I paid extra for, and the nachos which I used to love no longer taste the same either. It's like they're starting to become stingy with any extra sauces or add-ons. These inconvenience's were compounded by other recent order disappointments and I've finally just had enough of it.

Two of my pervious orders were also disappointment's I previously ordered the fish taco which is one of their more expensive tacos and to my surprise there looked like there was a sliver of fish put in there from the bottom of the fryer- not at all worth the 6 dollars I paid for when I could have gotten two other tacos for the same price.

La Bodega please improve upon these short comings because I used to love ordering from here but with every new order I find myself becoming more and more disappointed than the last time when I used to have very high expectations...

Asked for extra meat 🍖 and shrimp 🍤 🦐 on my nachos only received half of a normal portion seen him slide the meat to the side I asked whats going on that's not even normal meat they gave me the containers not listening so I again repeated myself that's not right I asked for extra meat the manager says he didn't charge you for extra meat so this is what you paid for take it I replied so your not going to make it right I asked two people before this that I wanted extra meat and they waved the fee for me for the extra meat I was willing to pay after two minutes of going back and forth I said cancel my order they lost 43 dollars 💸 for 4 bucks worth of the cost of extra meat he then said ok ok you pay extra now no need to cancel but too late give me my money back

Now not only did he lose 43 bucks we at my house of 6 and my coworkers about ten people spend about 50 to 270 per order we order 2 times a week and I put in the orders I will go to another place for food now you just lost over do the math 🧮 medium number of 135 x 10 $1,350 Dollars lost per week to your business on average spend also this place was dirty they was not using gloves was eating when cooking chicken and shredding 🧀 cheese they're just rude and nasty and the shrimp looked nasty it looked like shrimp scampi don't eat here chicken left on counter with no heat this place is going to kill someone don't...
