Las Palmas es muy delicioso!!
Atwood Street is where you’ll find Las Palmas tacos. Locating parking can be challenging but don’t get upset! Because these tacos son muy ricos! (Very good). Atwood street is a one way street so take that into account. When trying to find parking I found that taking boulevard of the Allies all the way in until you meet Basset st, hanging a left at that light and taking it up until you run into Atwood street is the best route.
The tacos are done on an outside flattop grill. The well seasoned and well loved flattop grill pumps the tacos out in a timely manner. As your eyes grow as large as your stomach, the mind paces its thoughts on what you’re about to do to these finely done corn tortillas and choice of meat tacos. Finally in what seems to be a blink of an eye your tacos are done and waiting to be garnished by no one other than you. You’ll find the garnishes to the left of the flattop grill and it’s up to you to pick your toppings. The selection is plentiful between the cilantro, salsas, limes, and toppings the tacos become your canvas of love! But don’t forget about the..
..Tienda (store) right behind the gentleman who makes these wonderful joys, is a door to Mexico itself. Finding all the joys of a Mexican tienda right here in Pittsburgh Pa!!!The store houses Mexican candies, spices, pops, and candy as well as a deli in the back. Read moreUpon arrival my hopes for some delicious tacos were shattered. I wasn’t even sure I had arrived at Las Palmas. There was no store sign. At the very facade of Las Palmas was a rude and bold man who criticized me for not initially speaking Spanish to him despite being obviously Latino. The audacity of this sleazy man! The idea that he might have a hand in my food preparation was almost enough for me to turn away. However, I was not alone and was not about to be close minded. The interior of Las Palmas is quite depressing in itself. How good could the food be? Upon receiving my order I was dissatisfied. No lettuce or cilantro. What kind of tacos were these? Expectation were low. Bryan from 56th street was decided on relaying his horrible experience on his next review. Finally I took my first bite and what an experience these tacos are on your taste buds! These are by far one of the best tacos i have ever had. Las Palmas is truly a hole in the wall. At it’s price point the tacos are nothing short of amazing. For delicious tacos at a great price, Las Palmas is a must go to. Service and ambiance are horrendous but are outweighed by the...
Read moreSometimes you eat because it's good, and sometimes you eat food because it's cheap. At Las Palmas, you eat because it's both. The tacos here are inexpensive ($2.50) and delicious. I would say 3 tacos are about the equivalent of a Chipotle burrito in terms of meal size, but I'd pick Las Palmas over Chiptole every time. (The red sauce is HOT, and I say that having eaten ghost peppers. Use with caution)
The people who work here are mostly native Mexican, and their food is authentic. They also are exceptionally friendly, and enjoy when customers speak (or at least try to speak) in Spanish.
I can't say much for the grocery store, but it has several international Spanish brands (Jarritos soda, Jumex juice, Takis, which are like Fritos or Cheetos) that you generally won't find in an American grocery store. I highly recommend a delicious guava or tamarind flavored Jarritos soda to...
