The food here is definitely high quality. There are not many Mediterranean places in Pittsburgh, and I'm quite glad to have a place like this in Squirrel Hill. This place is smaller, and they definitely do a lot of takeout orders. I ordered the meat kafta meal (it came with two sides, so I chose the meat pie and the cheese dough) as well as the Syrian rice pudding. The kafta is so delicious, almost perfect. It is a bit similar to the Russian meat cutlets. The meat is perfectly cooked as well. I think this place's specialty is meat, so definitely try on of the meals with meat if you're not a vegetarian. The rice served along with this meal was absolutely perfect as well. So buttery and well cooked. They give you a huge portion of rice along with your meat which is well appreciated. They served the meal with an oil based sauce on the side. It goes well with the rice and the meat as well. You even get free pita (choose between whole wheat and white), and it was a decent pita. Since the meal was huge, the price tag was worth it in my opinion. I was not a fan of the cheese pie. The description for the pie did not mention they had onions with this bread. It had way too many onions, and there was not enough cheese. I do appreciate they give you the option to choose 2 sides for free, but just don't choose the cheese pie as one of them. The meat pie, though, was outstanding. Again, the trend is anything with meat from this place is delicious. There is a ton of meat packed in and it'd a very flavorful pie. The bread was well cooked and had a good meat to bread ratio. I was fond of the Syrian rice pudding. It had that flavor of being in the fridge for too long. It was also quite grainy and had a strange texture (you couldn't taste the rice kernels, but there were tiny grains everywhere). Not sweet enough. Would recommend trying the baklava or a halva bar instead. All in all, a pretty good Mediterranean place in Squirrel Hill. A good place for takeout or delivery especially, and I believe they do catering well too. The meat here is absolutely excellent; you must get something with meat if you eat meat!

Okay so here is the deal. Food was very disgusting the meat and vegetables were burnt. Also there was hair on the meat pie. Order via Uber eats, called the restaurant to possibly get order remade. Owner was very rude stating he didn’t care and that I have to deal with Uber eats. He said white people don’t have black hair and said I put the hair on my food myself, 😑. That conversation was via phone… so after he was rude and hung up on me… yes hung up the phone. I went there and was yelled at because of his mistakes. That man is very inconsiderate and doesn’t deserve business from anyone. I’ll be contacting the board of health about this safety issue. I wish I could rate 0 stars.

Mediterranean Market is a hidden gem. They give huge portions, definitely enough for a second meal. I ate it in one sitting because it was so good. The lamb is phenomenal and I am definitely going to have cravings for the spinach pie. The baba ghanoush was smokey and smooth. You must try the baklava, both of them. I asked the owner which was his favorite and he said the pistachio, though of course the walnut is great too. I would totally agree with him. They are both the best baklava I've had and the pistachio has such a strong pistachio flavor. Fantastic service and amazing food.

The exterior of this restaurant (looks like a grocery store) may not be appealing. I almost walked away when first entering this place. The food was amazing and the price was reasonable. Update: I visited this place again. Honestly, the quality of food was inconsistent and the rice was heated up in the microwave, not freshly made. Some of the side dish were over price. For instance, yogurt is $4, watery without flavor. They recently raised the price for the menu. With the price we paid this time, we could have gone to a better quality restaurant in Shadyside. Overall, overpriced and...
