Until recently, this was my favorite sushi place in Pittsburgh. However, that has changed and it will be a long time before I go back. We had a celebratory dinner there the other night, table of 6, bill around $250. Our waitress was incredibly inexperienced and incompetent. In addition to not being able to hear her, she also couldn’t understand how to even take our order or deliver food to the table without upsetting the whole table. When she removed bowls of miso soup, which we had stacked at the end of the table because she never removed any plates at all before bringing more, she spilled the soup all over me. The soup ended up all over my shirt, jeans, and boots. She didn’t even apologize and barely helped clean it up. She did bring a mop to clean up the floor but we had to beg for more napkins to clean the table - not to mention to sop up the soup that was all over me. She brought us the wrong wine twice, which I drank anyway because she barely visited our table. At the end of the meal, I asked if they would consider comping part of my meal at least, and ended up having to fight with the manager to do so, who acted as if she didn’t understand why I was asking this. She finally agreed to comp one glass of my wine (I had had two) and the least expensive roll I ordered. I was beyond livid considering I had sat there for 90 minutes wet and covered in miso soup.

The food itself there is usually amazing but at this visit, the lettuce in the salad was rusty and limp. The avocados in my rolls were brown and even the seafood itself didn’t seem as fresh as usual (although tasted okay and no one got sick). Of course, my entire visit was tainted and my mood ruined given the wet clothes I sat in for the entire meal.

I will have to let some time go by before I consider going back here, if I ever do, which I’m sad about because it used to be my favorite sushi...

Unfortunately I was not impressed by this restaurant.

We ordered the Yakiniku and Salmon Dengaku.

The Yakiniku itself lacked any flavor. The meat itself tasted a little strange, but couldn't decipher what was wrong with it.

The Salmon Dengaku was okay. But it wasn't anything I thought was worth $25 range.

Both came with a steamed vegetable medley that were still cold on the inside of everything. They also came with a salad that was pretty much just lettuce, some carrot, and possibly red cabbage. The dressing was a ginger dressing which was actually decent. However the salad itself wasn't anything impressive.

Both also came with a miso soup which wasn't bad, but tasted like a single serve packaged instant soup.

They both came with white rice which was fine, but also kind of cold.

All that said, dinner for two for about $60 didn't cut it for these particular entrees. I feel like $40 would be even a little high, but I could manage the losses better.

The staff was kind and no issues with them. The old man at the sushi bar seems happy to be there and kind of livened up the ambiance.

We're hoping that their sushi game is better than their Yakiniku and Dengaku attempts. I hate giving them one star, but I think they really need management to step in and do some quality...

I want to start off saying that I don't normally go out of my way to bash restaurants but I feel compelled to share my bad experience!!

I was very intrigued by everyone's positive reviews about the atmosphere, food, and staff so I went to LTB this week but I most certainly had an entirely different experience. Firstly, the sushi was alright. I am a frequent diner at Sushi too in Shady side and Nakama in Southside and both restaurants offer a larger sushi selection and order a higher quality of fish. My salmon and tuna rolls were no better than that of Giant Eagle. Secondly, I felt that my waitress was unprofessional. She returned 4-5 times to ask for our orders, when there was only 1 other occupied table at in the restaurant, and came over 3 times to ask if we were ready for our check. There is a fine line between being attentive and smothering your customers. I wasn't pleased about my experience for the reasons detailed above so I left a small tip. When I checked my credit card statement, it was to my great surprise the restaurant ADDED a larger tip. I simply refuse to dine at a place that abuses customers' credit card information. My credit card company refunded me the disputed amount but I will take my business elsewhere.

This is our go-to spot for sushi. The restaurant is super conscious about social distancing the seating and every seemed really clean. The food is consistently on point and the sushi is incredibly fresh. My favorite is the Dean Roll which is riceless, low carb and delicious. If you're eating the rice for a cheat night, there's so many to choose from, but the mango shrimp roll is my favorite. Ask them to add jalapeno for a sweet & spicy edge. They also serve hibachi cooked dinners (we love the steak & chicken combo) and traditional appetizers (the gyoza is out favorite). There's a decent selection of wine, but I recommend you ask for the watermelon martini which is a saki based martini that isn't on the menu.

Frank Lin is proud to announce Little Tokyo Bistro in the Southside. Frank and his staff are proud that they offer one of the widest selections possible of Japanese cuisine and have two of the cleanest establishments in the city. At Little Tokyo Bistro the service is cordial and quick, and the decor is completely unique in every detail. The specialized menu features fresh sushi from the Sushi bar, Hibachi, Tempura, Teriyaki, Udon noodles, and great appetizers. To get the excitement of the customers, Little Tokyo Bistro has an amazing selection of wines, Japanese beer, and fresh sake from Japan.

I want to start off by saying I am so disgustingly disappointed. They straight up stole a tip from me. I gave a specific amount, and when the charge posted on my account it was TEN DOLLARS more than what I wrote down including the tip. I wasn’t even given a receipt so now I have no proof to send to my bank for this FRAUDULENT behavior. I was so sad to see this because otherwise the experience was wonderful. Friendly staff, top quality food and didn’t have to wait long. But to be completely robbed blind when I was generous enough to tip in the first place Is just simply beyond me
