Coffee ice cream was good- smores didn't have much of a taste. But that's not why I rated it a 2 star. The 2 star is for the cleanliness of the place. I couldn't rate it higher because it's a ripoff. I'm an ice cream connoisseur. Ice cream parlors are happy places where you can indulge in the day treat and take your family. To my surprise, it seems as though they've tried to make ice cream 'designer' or something. The cones are the smallest thing you've ever seen. I think places may sell kids cones, but this place markets then as their regular size. A waffle cone is an up charge; the ice cream scoopers are tablespoons. I was flabbergasted to be given this weak, tiny cone for $10.š²š«¤ If you take a family, be sure you have more than $20- which by the way should be enough for the enjoyable summer-time treat; but not at this place. Millie's has taken the fun out of ice cream. I will not be going back. If you're looking for a ice cream shop to take the family or yourself for that fun cool treat, go to Happy Day located 7 mins away on the Northside. They didn't have coffee flavor today... which brought me to Millie's. I won't do that again.. Lesson learned, I'll find something- and I won't be ripped off by Millie's- upsurd!
8/12/25: Just wanted to thank Millie's Management for their thoughtful reply. I appreciate the use of fresh and locally sourced ingredients, but still think there is a level of 'luxury' that's not necessary with ice cream; it speaks for itself. But if that's your brand model (high-end)- who am I to knock it!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI. Love. Millie's ice cream. I frequent the shop downtown and often treat myself with a scoop at least once (twice!) a week. Millie's offers dairy and dairy free ice cream options, as well as sorbets, and offer cups, waffle cones AND gluten-free cones, and an array of toppings. The shops smell like what I assume is Heaven's scent --it's like walking into the house after your grandma just baked your favorite pie and it's it sitting out on the counter cooling; the aroma still wafting around in the air. I'm a huge fan of the seasonal flavors (please bring back olive oil!). My favorite this summer was the strawberry elderflower sorbet. It was so refreshing, and made the 90 degree days bearable. Their ice cream is so smooth and creamy and fresh. The flavors burst on your tongue. Prices aren't crazy and seem pretty average for what a dessert might cost you somewhere else. My daily go-to is the dairy free mango. I usually get two scoops in a cup, one of mango and then something else. One thing I like is the flavors and ingredients/description cards are displayed right in front of you so you know what you're getting. I recommend sampling a flavor before you jump right in as some flavors may be stronger than you expect. They also offer to-go pints and, if you don't see the flavor you want in the freezer case, they will pack it for you right there! I can eat Millie's ice cream...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was craving some desert after really hearty dinner and saw Millie was quite highly rated for their ice cream, and Iām happy to report that their rating is absolutely justified. The location is quite prominent. Just outside of market Square and on weekends you will find this area to be very busy. The store itself is pretty simple with a refrigerator, stored with pints of ice cream and couple of high chairs and benches to sit inside and eat if you prefer. There is also a nice outdoor seating where I saw couple of people eating the ice cream, but Iām not sure if that belongs to Millie or some other restaurant. They have a lot of innovative flavours, but I stuck with the classic cookies and creams, and it was absolutely delicious. I was thinking for going with the two scoop option, but then as I was kind of full. I went with a single one and it was a good decision because even a single serving, was a lot for me to finish. It isnāt certainly cheap, but it is definitely in line with some of the other gourmet ice cream places in the city. I will definitely come back again and try...
