Primanti Bros is a classic sandwich shop serving up some seriously big and seriously tasty sandwiches! They also offer, wings, tots, fries, chili, pickles and more! Their atmosphere seems to keep to its roots and is pub-like with dark wood and low lighting inside but they also have outdoor seating. The service was mediocre but we absolutely loved our food. If you're in the Pittsburgh area and haven't been here yet, you should try them out! Definitely recommend. My wife and I split the Double beef and cheddar which, you guessed it, has double the beef and cheddar with a horseradish mayo, tomatoes, fries and homemade slaw on delicate white bread. The meat was juicy and everything went well together. As you can see in the picture, there were plenty of fries and meat mounded high! The bread was soft with a delicate and flakey crumb and compressed easily when you grab it but made it easy to eat and didn't fall apart until the very end. There was plenty of tasty sauce and the sandwich wasn't dry at all. The slaw was homemade and vinegar based and complemented the sandwich perfectly. We also got the BLT tots and the Hot Chili. The chili was heat hot but not very spicy hot, if that's what they were going for. I hot to add hot sauce to it to make it more spicy. It was your classic chili with red beans, beef, onions and tomatoes. Not sure if it was normal but I had a piece of meat the size of a meatball in mine. You can tell this chili is made in house also. The BLT tots were a nice spin on flavored tots. They came with nacho cheese sauce, minced bacon, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes. They were also good. The only gripe I would have is that the server didn't really seem like she wanted to be there. When I go to sit-down restaurants I like to be asked if I've been there before and being told what their all about. Otherwise its just typical service I get anywhere and it's not an experience more than it is just another restaurant. If she had more energy and put more than just the minimum effort into her job she probably would have made this a 5 star place. Her and the host as well 🙄 but the food was good and different and the atmosphere was cool so overall I give this place 4 stars. Follow me for more reviews across America 😎🍔🍕🦖🔧

The last time I went to Pittsburgh I went to the Original location on 18th st.in 2009. I was told to try the Big Fish Sandwich. My eyes went Big, & my mouth couldn’t open wide enough to take a bite. It was deliciously amazing! The loaded fries on top of the fried fish, and the fresh coleslaw, with tomatoes between the Italian Bread. I had not had it since until last week. I had not realized that it has become a chain of restaurants. I brought my family this time since they have heard my stories about how good the sandwich was. The traffic was too horrible to get to the 18th st location, so we stopped off at the one in Market Square. I do not remember it being a Sports Bar. Having the options of food and sports went well. I imagined that the Fish Sandwich would of been the big item seller on the menu. I was disappointed. I ordered the “Fish and Cheese”, which was the Big Fish Sandwich. This time around, the size was not as big & the coleslaw and fries were less than overflowing. It was good, but not a story I will be telling for years. Having a Chain is good, but then lacking at the same time. The personal Pizza, Reuben Sandwich, and desserts were very good. There are many locations to choose from. I guess I will have to try another sandwich to see if it can ever compare to the Original Location and the Big Fish Sandwich.

Fri june 23 Every tourist who visits Pittsburgh will no doubt stop at Primanti Brothers for lunch or dinner at some point. It seems like it is a tourist must do. It is on every ‘Best of Pittsburgh’ travel blog list. We have been to Pittsburgh before and have eaten there once. And on this recent road trip to Pittsburgh, We had a friend who had never been there, who wanted to try it, so we stopped in for dinner. Without a doubt, the place was packed and there was a line up to get a table. We were seated on the patio overlooking the square, as a Pogo Chamiponship was taking place. We ordered a number of their signature sandwiches that they are famous for – with chips and coleslaw on the sandwich. The sandwiches – come in a variety of options – chicken, pastrami, sausage, and many more – topped with coleslaw and French fries right on the sandwich. The portions are HUGE, the fries are hand cut and fried properly. The flavours are good, and while it is a personal taste – these sandwiches are too much. There is too much on them, they are too big, and NOT ONE person at our table finished their meal. The best suggestion I have is to share a meal, so that you experience it – without leaving the place overly full. This restaurant has popped up in a number of locations around town, so you have plenty of options to find a location. the service was excellent – very friendly, attentive, and prompt. As a return customer – I have one piece of advice. This restaurant is highly over promoted as one of the best of Pittsburgh. If you feel you must go – go. But its not quite the culinary experience I look for when I travel. Its just over the top.

What can I say that hasn't been said already? Chicken wings were off the hook. We had bbq and garlic/parmesan. Crispy, crunchy and juicy with an excellent fried chicken flavor on its own and then covered in sauces that also tasted fantastic. I normally would never even consider ordering something like Cheesesteak Fries, but I knew I was in good hands and never regretted it for one second, lactose intolerance and all. The coup de grace was the Pastrami and Cheese sandwich which was one of the best I'd ever tasted. Almost like a corned beef, the pastrami was tasty, perfectly textured, not greasy at all. The fixings in the sandwich included a cole slaw that was not runny or overwhelming, but provided enough freshness to give what most pastrami sandwiches lack, which is life and crunch. My wife had the burger and she said it was fine, but admitted she should have ordered the pastrami and cheese when she tasted mine. Our server was excellent. He steered us right and obviously knew the menu and was a fan of the food himself. I also enjoyed the atmosphere and the fellow patrons, one of whom recommended a dessert place for us called Dave and Andy's, which was a wonderful way to top off such a great meal.

We had a one night stopover in Pittsburgh and I asked the receptionist at the hotel for a dinner reccomendion, and she said this place was a must to experience something that you'd only eat in Pittsburgh. And it was so good!! When you walk in it looks a little uninviting, not much atmosphere but the food is fun! Giant delicious sandwiches loaded with French fries, and tasty sides. I've never had a sandwich like it before and it was so good, and a refreshing change from the usual burgers. The tables have a roll of paper towel on them which is a sign you're going to need lots of napkins. It's a basic diner, nothing flash, but really great food. The photos don't really do the sandwiches justice, they are huge! There is no wine list (when I asked for red wine, the waitress had no idea, she just pointed to a shelf). The waitress was also absent, I had to go find her everytime we wanted to get a drink. Good selection of beers. Overall you have to try their sandwiches!

As visitors from out of town wanted to check out Pittsburgh's famous Primanti Bros. We were in a large group and got seated quickly though the food took a long time. The service was friendly and our order was delivered as requested. I got the Pitts-burger, 2nd most ordered item (1st= beer). It was more of a meatloaf patty than a burger. It came stacked with cheese, fries, coleslaw on thick slices of Italian white bread (not a roll). It was an interesting contrast of flavors, temperatures (hot fries/meat patty, cold slaw), and textures. It was huge! The size of two burgers side by side. The overall flavor was good - definitely worth the try when in Pittsburgh. I also got a pickle - $1 for four spears. The total meal cost me less than $10, plus tip. It was a ton of food for a great price.
