I love this place and it is one of the best places in Pittsburgh downtown to have Thai food.
I have been there number of times and the quality of the food is always the same. And it’s top notch . Their spice level is from 1 to 5 with 5 being super spicy. If you want to have spicy food, then you can order for spice level 5.
They offer variety of fried rices - Thai spicy basil fried rice, Thai fried rice and pineapple fried rice. And you can add either vegetables, tofu, chicken or seafood to the fried rice and charges applicable based on it. They do have great selection of appetizers - chicken satay, egg rolls and vegetable 4 u - which is my favorite as it has fresh spring rolls, samosas and egg rolls.
They do offer soups and chefs specials. I personally love their chili mango with vegetables. And you can order brown rice if you want and they do charge for that. The restaurant is usually crowded and hence it’s advisable to arrive 30 minutes before your lunch time. You cannot call and book table at afternoon but then you can do...
Read moreUpdate: Finally went for lunch this week. No surprises here but Nicky's does fantastic with that too - the Pittsburgh melt is delicious.
You seriously cannot get a diner-like experience anywhere else in downtown other than at Nicky's. I can't speak for the lunch, but Nicky's Grant Street always does breakfast PERFECTLY. Sure the pancakes, French toast and waffles aren't going to be fancy. But are you at Nicky's for fancy? No. You're at Nicky's to get fantastic no frills food, great service from every employee and to be blown away by how cheap everything is. Where else in downtown can you get two super filling pancakes, crispy bacon and a big glass of orange juice for less than $15? I hope this place stays in business forever - new...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I had breakfast here the other day and it’s still the best breakfast spot in downtown Pittsburgh, hands dahn! I had eggs, home fries, bacon, and toast and it was all cooked, seasoned, and prepared excellently — classic breakfast diner faire. My girlfriend had the waffle and the subtle malt flavor made it easily the best tasting waffle I’ve ever had (and I’m a connoisseur of them ; ). We also talked to George, who along with his father has been working there for years. The staff is always consistently kind and prompt. If you are in downtown Pittsburgh and looking for a great, classic breakfast spot — Nicky’s is the only...
