A group of us decided to go to Waffles, INCaffeinated Downtown location, and there was so much happening in this restaurant, and none of it was good. Let me start with the wait. It was like 45 minutes. Completely understood it's busy on Sundays, and there was a marathon we knew nothing about. So, as we are patiently waiting, a couple of people from our group sat on the bench while the rest stood up. There was a white older waitress who, every time she walked by, she didn't say excuse me at first, she would bump the black gentleman that was standing in front of us. As she walked back for the fourth time, she bumped into a younger white girl, but she immediately grabbed her and apologized. After that, one of the waitresses slipped and fell HARD on the floor. This girl fell so hard that I felt the ground shake under my feet and heard the thump, but I didn't see it. According to the person in our group, no one was concerned about her welfare. She she jumped back up and went right back to work.
After waiting for 45 minutes, we were seated. Our waitress came over to introduce herself but I do not recall her name because in the back of us, the Manager was yelling at the greeter, telling him to stop moving chairs from different sections and was very rude in front of room full of customers. The manager was so loud that our table couldn't focus on anything else at that moment. We ordered our food and when our waitress delivered our drinks her hands were shaking. I looked over at my friend and said, "What the hell is going on in here?" After waiting another 40 minutes of placing our order half the table decided to leave and not eat at this establishment. We got our waiters attention and told her how half the table wanted to leave if they didn't start our ticket yet to cancel the order. She rolled her eyes and went back to the kitchen, which we could clearly see, and the same manager took the ticket and threw it. He had a bad attitude, so when the waitress came back, she was pissed and took it out on our table.
I decided that I still wanted to try the food, so I stayed and told the waitress that I was going to have my meal regardless of what was going on. I was hungry. I guess she was so distraught because they packed my food to-go, which I didn't ask for. It made me feel like they were kicking me out because half of our table didn't want to wait. On our way out, I heard a different waitress telling the greeter who tried to ask a question not to talk to her. There was no respect in Waffles, INCaffeinated Downtown location. Other than that, the food was great when I got home to eat it. Waffles were a little soggy but that's because I had to travel since my food was put in to-go containers and bagged. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of home fries. I will never give my money to this establishment again. Dignity and respect training is definitely needed for the Manager and some of the employees for the way they treated each other and certain customers who patron this business. I expected morale to be so much...
Read moreI visit the city on occasion and have always walked by this place but never been able to stop. Well today I was finally able to and I was excited. I do love me a Waffle. I was greeted by a very friendly girl who was all smiles. I was shown to my table ( they werent very busy). and was told my server who we will just call T since thats the first letter of his name would be over shortly. When T came over I was still looking at the menu and he put down my water and said " Are you ready yet?" in a tone that seemed like he was annoyed that he had to actually do something. Now I worked in food service at this age ( early mid 20's) and thought ok maybe he is just quiet or is having a rough morning. I told him no and he walked away and came back about 5 min later. No problem there. He proceeded to say. "What did you want?" I said I would like the Sausage gravy waffle. " Whole or half" Half please and then he just walked away. Apparently ordering something other than water to drink wasnt an option. I now felt like I don't thing this kid is having a bad day I think he would rather be literally anywhere but here. From what I could tell he only had one other table and a Female server brought that table their food. No big deal I know servers help each other out. A few moments later she brought out another plate of food and tried to take it to the other table T had. It seems that he had put down the wrong table number. I said it was mine and she put the plate down and walked away again not happy. While i was eating this server on several occasions was yelling for T and talking loudly about how bad a server he was. At one point T was going to go through the wrong door and she yelled at him from across the room. He looked at her and gave her what i would call a F you face and walked through the door anyway. She continued to complain in high volume about how bad a server he was. Then when he finally reappeared after going through the wrong door she told him that is she was going to have to keep doing his work she was keeping his tips. I thought to myself well i do understand your frustration if your gonna keep his tips you might wanna treat his guests better instead of taking out your frustrations on them. Finally after I finished my food which I will say was AMAZING! T came over and said "Want the check". I said yes and when he brought it over i just gave him my card so I could get the hell out of there. Its sad cause when the female server wasnt Yelling at T it was a pleasant atmosphere (hence only 3 stars there) I paid my bill. and left. On the way out the same nice and happy girl that greated me on the way in was just as lovely on the way out. Would I eat here again. Maybe. But i feel like this whole T being a bad server thing could of been handled much better and in a way that wasn't out in the dinning area for all the...
Read moreRecently attended an event here. I was surprised to find out that they have a pretty extensive menu, and beyond breakfast waffles they have inventive "brinner" (breakfast-dinner) waffle creations. Our servers were quick, and exceptionally friendly they really wanted us to have a good time. My friends and I really enjoyed our experience and everyone seemed to love the food. I really enjoyed the sampler waffle plate- getting to try a bit of everything. Having both savory and sweet combination is genius. The waffles are really fluffy and flavorful here. For my own meal, I was really undecided between sweet and savory, so it was great that they had options for satisfying both cravings! The chicken and waffles came with 4 crispy fried chicken tenders with a pecan waffle with lots of candied pecans and savory green onions on top. I was surprised at how delicious it was. The chicken was so juicy and the breading was both sweet and peppery. Fun additional that they have 3 different flavors of syrup: Traditional Maple, Vanilla and Bourbon. Maybe a label on the bottle would encourage guests to try them? Hopefully they will spruce up the space a bit. When I visited the space was obviously still under construction and needed finishing (although I learned that they had been open for a few months?!). The orange walls as is are overpowering. Hopefully soft layered décor elements will be brought in to break it up, to offer a more...
