Great little shop with fantastic quality for very reasonable prices! There's a few small tables for indoor dining around the cozy interior, but where this place really shines is takeout; they're extremely fast, they pack stuff well to travel, and they're so central to everything that it's easy to dip in and grab a few rolls on the go.

As for the menu...I'm a specials guy when it comes to sushi shops, as I think they say a lot about the skill and creativity of the chef. This place has some of my favorite specialty rolls of any of the places I've been to in Pittsburgh, including the inimitable Sushi Tomo.

I went with the Miami roll, which was a delicious combo of crab, eel, and cream cheese loosely wrapped in simple rice. I also got the Bahama Mama, which was a unique lobster-topped take on a tempura roll, along with the Tuna Tataki, a well-executed tempura roll topped with torch-seared ahi. I loved them all; each one had well-executed technical flourishes and flavor combos I haven't seen at a lot of other places.

On one final note, they are very reasonably priced...I can eat quite a bit, and these three rolls were enough for me to eat 2 large meals and still have rolls left over. My order was around 35 dollars, but in the future I could probably get a very satisfying meal there for less than 15 dollars.

And I will! Because I'll definitely be back here. No 1 Sushi lives up to its name....

Location/Hours: On Market Street leading into Market Square, across from The Market and in between Diamond Market and Prantls. Mon-Fri 11a-8p. No Weekends : (

Staff: Warm, receptive and will remember your and your order if you become a regular. They will ask your name for the order and no matter how busy, they work hard but keep composure with the cashier always easy to talk to.

Sushi: It's my objective to try every roll that they have but that will be a while. They have many selections and roll sizes. They have party options and catering available. Their rolls are served rice on outside but let them know and they can change that. Wasabi/Ginger/Soy sauce will always be in your to-go order so don't shake your container around unless you enjoy ginger all over your sushi. They have miso, seaweed salad and other menu options as well.

Drinks: The options are awesome. They have cans/bottles of soda, Snapple, Red Bull of all sizes and fair priced, teas and traditional Asian drinks.

Overall: Great sushi downtown, can become a tight space during lunch hour so I suggest going outside of 11a-1:30p. Yami Yami roll is a good start for those who haven't experienced raw fish sushi. The menu is a bit hard to read and on the wall. Grab a paper menu and sit down before ordering, there will always be a daily special on the chalk...

I absolutely love sushi, so the fact that this place has such a high rating tells me that a lot of people have never really had good sushi. I have eaten from here twice. The first time I figured they were just really busy and that's why my sushi rolls were sloppy big and fell apart. And 90% of it was rice. Also, definitely not fresh ingredients!! I ended up throwing it all away after a few bites because it made me lose my appetite. However, the great reviews had me believing it was not normal to have a bad experience here. And since there is no other sushi restaurant within walking distance from my office, I decided to try this place again a few months later. The second time was just as bad if not worse. The avocado was overripe and tasted bad. And again, the rolls were sloppy big and fell apart. And the amount of sriracha they put on my spicy roll was insane. What I had was a container full of sriracha covered rice with bad avocado and tiny pieces of fish. Wasted money again and threw it in the trash. I will not try...

It’s a cute little shop, they move quick so you can be in and out or you can dine in. The prices are really good to be located in a downtown area. — I’m visiting for work. You’ll see on the pic of the container what I ordered. I really wanted to enjoy it, but I feel like because they are so quick they didn’t handle my food with care. The sushi was falling apart as I was picking it up. It was like the rice was not sticking together and the seaweed was like easily punctured so when I picked it up it would smash and break apart. The yummy yum was okay, but I’m not a fan of imitation crab meat. Which ironically, the lam back had real crab meat and it was fishy. So crazy right. See pics. I feel like I’d go back, because of the price but I’d need them to fix my issue. I saw someone else’s look better than mine, so idk if it’s based on the type of roll or not.

I was very very impressed with the food here. The sushi is made immediately for you, they offer millions of options it was hard to choose, and their pricing is very affordable. 8 piece sushi for less than $5? That's a deal! They also have indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered a mixed vegetable roll and spicy tuna roll. My friend ordered a social roll and seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was my first time eating it and it was amazing! Best part is, their service is quick! They have tons of people in the bacn rolling constantly, the wait for your order is less than 3 minutes. I did not expect such tasty and affordable sushi in downtown. I'm very impressed! I came here again yesterday and ordere spicy tuna roll, philadephia roll and sea weed salad. Like last time, the food is amazing and I got my order within one minute!

I’m not sure how this place is so highly rated. The sushi is terrible. It is way too much rice, falls apart when trying to eat it and it doesn’t taste fresh. The rice was also very very dry. I threw most of my meal away it was that bad . I should’ve listened to the reviews about the rolls falling apart. They even put rice INSIDE the rolls to make them look bigger. Look at my photo. They also messed up my order and didn’t send two pieces of nigiri and argued with me on the phone about it until they realized I was correct. They said they would refund but didn’t. The way they show on the order is confusing as it says 1X but then a second row for an add on. Overall, head somewhere else. These positive reviews must be paid for or friends or something.
