I’m a northside native so I’ve been going to Peppi’s for years and have loved it to this point. I no longer live on the northside but when I make my way back to the city occasionally I always make it a point to go to peppis to bring things back to the family. Today I called to pick some things up after my trip to the barbershop. I called the number saved in my phone and said I wanted to place an order for pickup. I was told by the woman on the phone that “this is sports clips”. I said oh, sorry I thought this was Peppis and apologized and hung up. Because I had promised some ppl the food, I went down to the shop and placed my order (I really didn’t have the time to wait which is why I was trying to call ahead). I saw the number on the window was the same as the number I called and asked the guy if they changed their number. He said no. I said oh okay because I called and the number said it was sports clips. He seemed confused but then another worker came over and said “we got you it’s April fools” then everyone kinda laughed. I didn’t think it was good business considering I really didn’t have the time to waste and from a business perspective I’d be an upset owner that a customer was inconvenienced or potentially would’ve lost that business for the day if they wouldn’t have came to the shop or put 2 and 2 together. Why would I have immediately assumed it was an April fools joke? I still tipped $5 and was pleasant with the staff despite my time being wasted but Peppi’s unfortunately won’t ever see my business again. Might seem silly but to me that’s bad business. Would’ve been different if they called back and said it was a joke and took my order or revealed it on the phone immediately after but this was kinda dumb. I live by an Uncle Sam’s that’s pretty good too so I’ll miss Peppi’s for the nostalgia but yeah that was not good business in my opinion. Best of luck. No...
Read moreWent there for the first time yesterday with some friends before we all went to the aviary. We easily found on-street parking on the same block.
We were greeted very warmly when we walked in, & offered a menu immediately when we said it was our first time there. The place was packed soon after we arrived for an early lunch, we were served pretty quickly right after being seated. There was enough room for 6 of us in one of the larger booths. I dug the church pew style seats!
I opted for a cheese steak and it was absolutely delicious. We got fries to share and they were great too, and came before all our subs. There was a perfect amount of meat & cheese and the buns were excellent. I'll definitely be back to try an Italian and maybe even a cheeseburger sub. The Cathedral looks good too! My wife got a steak salad and it was huge and also looked delicious.
There are a ton of cool photos and Pittsburgh related artwork around.
The place kind of gives me vibes much like Uncle Sam's or Rudy's.
I feel like we need to plan a trip for lunch here again &...
Read moreDuring our couples’ trip, my husband and I, along with my baby sister and her husband, decided to try Peppi’s for lunch based on my brother-in-law’s recommendation. He’s from Pittsburgh, though none of us currently live in the area. Let me just say—we were not disappointed!
The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that did not disappoint. We ordered the New Steak Salad, the #7, the Big Nate, the Ultra Cheese Steak, and two orders of cheese fries. Every bite was amazing!
The service was equally impressive. The staff was polite, attentive, and made sure our food came out hot, fresh, and fast. The location itself is great, especially if you’re looking to park and explore, as there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby.
Peppi’s also has a fun and unique vibe inside, with a mix of chairs and pews for seating and a walk-up counter to place orders at the entrance. We will definitely be back—and honestly, we might just plan another trip to Pittsburgh just...
