My friend had been raving about this place for a while, so we finally decided to give it a visit. This isn’t like your typical Indian restaurant with Indian motifs and Indian music. Rather, it’s pretty modern with the bright and spacious interior and a long communal table. we started with the Tandoori chicken, which was honestly our favourite dish of the night. The spice mix was incredible, and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Within got the prawns, which again were perfectly cooked. it is very easy to overcook prawns, so to get the texture and flavour right was amazing. For the entree, we got some butter chicken and goan fish curry along with some Jeera rice and garlic naan. The entries were above average, but not the best. The butter chicken was below average, and the gravy felt like it was made from tomatoes and was way to sweet. The chicken chunks were overcooked to death. The Goan fish curry was better with some nice flavours from the coconut milk and the curry leaves, but again it was way too thick to be an authentic style of curry from the region as well as the choice of fish, which was in this case. Salmon wasn’t the right choice. It would have gone much better with some kind of whitefish. The garlic was pretty good though, as was the Jeera rice, but again I think it’s difficult to get these wrong. The entrees also come with rice, which we did not know, so we ended up wasting a little bit of the rice. Honestly, the appetisers were great, but there is definitely some work to be done on the main course. Also, the service was a little bit lack lustre and it felt like they were short staffed at times. In terms of value for money, I would say this is pretty much what you would expect to pay in a regular Indian restaurant. There are not a lot of great Indian restaurants in the area, so this is definitely a welcome addition, but I hope they improve their service and main...
Read moreA new, rather hip😎😎😎, Indian restaurant with a very high likelihood to be a premier dining establishment. The menu is short and sweet 👏👏👏, a very good sign the cook/chef has mastery over his/her craft.
The food listing is a mixture of predominantly Punjabi/North Indian dishes (e.g. tandoori), with a couple of British-Indian (tikka masala) and South and Eastern/Bengali (IndoChinese noodles, Hyderabad Baingan).
🤩🤩🤩The Tandoori dishes, labeled as Appetizers, are among the best I’ve tasted. It’s most chicken and lamb chops. Very balanced and tender with strong charred smoke flavor.
The boneless Bhatti Ka Murg chicken is outstanding. Tender and juicy. The onion tomato salad balances the complex-flavorful marinade of the meat👏👏👏👏👏.
—-it’s very much unlike the fake tandoori in many an eatery where the meat is boiled then pan fried that always come out greasy.
😊The Bhagara Baingan (stuffed Indian Eggplant) is superb. Textural stuffing!!! It’s served with lovely creamy sauce…. BUT the sauce is too much.
—- The eggplant should be star, but it is swimming/nearly drowning in a pool of curry sauce🫤🫤🫤.
—- CUT THE SAUCE IN HALF and the entire dish would be perfect.
Service is outstanding.
VERY GOOD PRESENTATION OF FOOD…. But please, do not drown the star (meat and/or vegetables) in sauce, unless it’s a soup.
The restaurant ambiance is quite “modern” although I am NOT A FAN OT THE COMMUNAL TABKE AND BENCH.
—- This is a restaurant, not a picnic in a park or a military mess hall.
—- Restaurant Dining with friends and family should afford some semblance...
Read moreVery nice new Indian spot in Pittsburgh! This place is a bit more modern and upscale than the traditional Indian spots in Pittsburgh, but I wanted to see if they deliver a great homemade flavor. I tried out their dal tadka, Punjabi samosa, roti, and gulab jamun.
Everything I had was very flavorful and quite tasty. The dal tadka seems like a perfect meal in the winter time. It’s got a hint of spice and borders between soup and curry in consistency. It’s just so homey and delicious, and I’d definitely recommend if you’re vegetarian or vegan.
The roti was also quite good. It’s great to dip in any curry and worked well with the tadka. This roti is a bit on the salty side, which I personally enjoy. Perfect char on the outside and softness in the middle. Greta portion too.
The samosas came in a nice portion. I thought they were a bit too spicy for my taste, but not bad. I don’t really know why they serve them on a bed of greens, because that makes the bottom turn soggy. Still, pretty solid.
The gulab jamun was delicious. Lots of sweet sauce, and the texture is almost melt in your mouth. The only real complaint I have is for the price, the portion is quite a bit too small.
All in all, a great new Indian spot. I really loved the dal tadka and the roti. Would definitely...
