I suppose we'll just give Kelly's a break for a bit and circle back to see what the prices and quality are at a future time.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
Great place for traditional American-diner-style breakfast. Everything we've had here has been fresh and flavorful, and the service was terrific. When we asked for eggs over-easy, that's how they actually came out. The bacon is done just right for our tastes, and the home fries are crispy and not greasy. To our delight, they also serve decent coffee here, with real half-and-half (not synthetic creamer). Don't be put off by the tiny coffee cups -- it allows the staff to keep your coffee fresh and hot with refills, which they supply regularly.
The only thing to watch out for is the giant step at the front door! Kelly's has colorful arrows at the entry to warn folks of the big step, but that won't keep you from taking a header if you're not paying attention. :-0
Kelly's is becoming our regular go-to for a quick and tasty breakfast. We...
Read moreI am starting to believe that the only reason this place is moderately busy at breakfast-time is the quick in-and-out for contractors in the morning. I hadn't had breakfast there in quite awhile; I went off of it awhile back when I ordered scrambled eggs and saw them ladled out of the unrefrigerated French toast egg bucket instead of freshly broken to my order, and the home fries were swimming in oil, but I thought I'd give it another go. Three eggs (over medium, definitely not scrambled), bacon, and an English muffin, no potatoes, and a cup of tea. The bill was ten dollars and change, plus a two dollar tip... twelve bucks for that breakfast? Really? They advertise that they use only "top of the line" food products. I would at least expect butter, not crappy margarine, and a regulation English (Thomas', naturally, not whatever sad brand). For comparison, I can go to the Dalton General Store deli and have two giant ham, egg, & cheese sandwiches, loaded for brunch with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo, on nice toasted rolls, for eight bucks. Elm St. Lunch would even shade Kelly's, so now I find no compelling reason to go to Kelly's for breakfast anymore. Nothing special about it at all. Their lunch selections, however, are...
Read moreMaking a breakfast sandwich and throwing some home fries in a to go container literally take very very little time. But the guy behind the griddle is so lazy he just prefers to refuse and now lose business. Not once not twice, this is the 10th time I called and the won't make a breakfast sandwich and home fries to go. Three dollars worth of food you charge $11 plus a tip and he's too busy to make it. Bad business. I'll never spend another dime at Kelly's again and if he doesn't own the place, he should be fired The place is too small to say he's too busy Every other diner in the city/county/WORLD offers takeout. The entire menu should be available, you throw it in a box and if you have a charge for the container do so. Truly just throwing business out the window. The next question underneath is did I get takeout or Inhouse. Kelley's doesn't offer takeout so the answer is pretty obvious isn't...
