I've been coming here for years and the food and drinks have always been good, but last night all of that was ruined by terrible service. We had a variety of issues with our waitress:
-I ordered a beer and was told that the keg ran out, so I ordered a different beer instead. Rather than bringing out the new beer I had ordered, I got about 6 oz of foam and beer from the end of the first keg. This ended up being the only beer I got, because our waitress did not show herself to offer me a new one until long after I had finished my first bit of beer and our food was arriving. Instead of comping the half beer she gave me, I was charged for an $8 strong IPA. When I brought it to her attention, she gave me a bad attitude and took half off the beer.
-they split my plate without me asking or wanting it split with my fiancée, who I ordered for. This would have been alright had they not charged an exorbitant split plate fee for this unwanted service.
-another person ordered a salad with dressing on the side, and it came out dressed. The waitress refused to apologize for this mistake or offer to bring out the salad as it was ordered.
-they forgot pickles on all the salmon burgers at the table. Wouldn't have been a big deal if the waitress would have come out to see if we needed anything before our food was cold and half gone.
-after I left a bigger tip than the rude incompetent waitress deserved, the manager had the nerve to call us and ask about why the tip wasn't bigger. Instead of sympathizing with us and apologizing for the unacceptable service, he lectured us on how the other employees were effected when we leave a small tip. Although I do feel bad for the other excellent employees there, they need to take it out on the bad employee that ruined the experience rather than harassing the customer.
I truly hope that next time we come here it will be a completely different experience more like what we had come to expect from this restaurant in the past.
Update:
After discussing my experience here with many other members of the community, it has come to my attention that the managers daughter, who unapologetically provided my family and I with poor service and rudeness, has made a habit of harassing other customers who don't tip her as much as she feels entitled to. After learning that I am not the first or only person to be harassed for not tipping for poor service at this establishment, I am convinced that the manager has a serious problem with ethics and his relationship with his customers. By contacting us for any reason other than to apologize for all the ways that his daughter failed to provide us with adequate service, this manager crossed an ethical line and lost many loyal customers. This is not ok!
Tipping is optional and not to be expected, especially when you provide sub-standard service. If you fail to provide the basic level of service that satisfies your customers, it is INCREDIBLY unprofessional to harass the disappointed customer about not paying you extra for poor service. It is even more unprofessional for a manager to harass customers on behalf of his awful daughter.
To serve me half a beer I didn't order and charge me more than it is worth even after I bring it to her attention gis one thing (one of many, many things wrong with the service she provided us), but to try to justify that mistake and lie to her daddy the boss about how she treated my family is just shameful. This waitress and her daddy have no business in the restaurant industry if they feel entitled to harass customers over the phone and through social media for not paying them extra for their lack of adequate service.
Bad service with a bad attitude by this ridiculous failure of a father-daughter team will surely be the death of this otherwise great restaurant. Not coming back here until these professional failures no...
Read moreWalk from town if you are able. It's a lovely walk with great turn of the century architecture. Parking on street. Full bar. Inside is very dim and for safety we chose to eat outdoors as it was a warm evening. The tents they have set up are commodious, and the front tent we found to be far more attractive than the rear tent. Tent. The front tent had two water features and an outdoor fireplace. It would have been appreciated if they had turned on the fans for more air circulation as it did get quite hot. But dining al fresco on a hot night is a treat so we didn't complain or ask for the fans. The staff were very friendly, fast and professional. The chef special Ahi tuna did not taste special at all. At first. I tasted the fish to see what it was like and it was almost unpleasant. It was so plain. The chili oil was literally nothing special but the server had made a big deal out of it as if it was some special creation but it wasn't. What was delicious was the rice and that saved the dish. The grilled broccolini was okay as was the tasty grilled pineapple. If one mixed all the elements together then one came up with a tasty dish that had a southeast Asia flare. Almost like Thai food. We had three people, two of whom had cocktails and then white wine with dinner. The bill was over $200 with tip. It beat going to a diner and risking getting gluten contamination. The chairs are very uncomfortable outdoors. They do have old flimsy beaten down pillows on them but those need to be replaced immediately. It would be who them to also put pillows at people's backs because the chairs are metal. They seem to be doing a great business and there were many people there when we visited on a Saturday evening early October. Bathrooms were lovely and servers were happy to guide to find them. All in all a...
