This is just an update from my original outstanding review from a year ago. I still love and frequent displays specifically for the outstanding tandoori chicken / Kalmi Kabob, And if you like that dish, I absolutely recommend you trying this place.
I will add just a little bit about the service and thus and lowering my overall review from 5 to 4 stars due to pressure from one of my friends that I recently brought there.
It should be noted that they do prefer to see you even though most assume it to be self-seeting, so I advise check in with the host before sitting down so there's no possible friction, especially during busy times when larger (4 person) tables need to be reserved for larger parties.
And the other thing is to just remember and be mindful of how much food you consume. Sometimes the phase are more about relaxed variety then huge quantity. Few people eat more than five pieces of chicken, But for those of you that really crave this and do, they kind of reserve the right to charge for that. I do wish they would put a sign up so that customers know they might be charged for six piece.
I'm fine with this and the quality of the tandoori chicken outweighs these little nuances. But I recently brought a guest and they brought me back a fly from the buffet when fresh ones came out and I told them not to because It's supposed to be number of pieces per and gets confused if you share with each other. They didn't understand and got annoyed and got mad at me for choosing to go there.
For me I'm fine and look so forward to my favorite dishes but I promise that might update my outstanding review to include this little things...
This is a super no frills place but has become my go-to place for Indian lunch buffet. I only go the one day a week that they have $10 chicken because I feel they do that better than anyone else.
The Chicken is marinated in their homemade tandoori sauce through and through. You can literally pull off a piece of chicken meat and the inside of the meat instead of being white will still be colored and flavorful because the sauce is somehow sunk in. I make thundery chicken myself at home but I have no clue how they do this good a...
Read moreIf you are looking for a “home cooked” food away from home in Dallas… Then India Meals in Plano is the place to go. Nothing fancy about this place except it serves pure authentic Indian food. The place is managed by an elderly couple, Ramana and Rama Devi, and they also happen to be the chefs as well. The owner and chef combination is the best of both worlds.
They serve a lunch buffet Tuesday to Sunday and for a very reasonable price. Kids get a discount. The buffet spread has a balanced spread of Veg and Non-Veg options. What makes this place unique is the authentic taste of Indian dishes. Flavors galore and not just one, but every single dish hits the right note for food lovers.
In general, Veg dishes have to fight twice as hard to compete with Non-Veg dishes. Well, not here. This is the first place where every dish competes for the top spot… appetizers, entrees, breads, rice and deserts, all alike.
The Butter Chicken was tender, juicy and well cooked. The Apollo Fish and Gobi Manchuria are crispy and soft , the Paneer Tikka Masala was delicious, the aroma and flavor of the Biryanis leaves you wanting for more, the softness of the Naan stuns you, the crispness of the Vada is at a different level, the Green Valor sweeps you off your feet, the Dal elevates the experience, and the explosion of flavors in the Sambar is a bliss. The Gaajar-ka-Halwa is satiating, and by far, the best Mango Lassi one can get to taste.
You are sure to have had a full and content meal while leaving this place without burning a hole in your pocket. Don’t take my word for it, experience it yourself and you will know what I mean.
Having a sensitive stomach, consuming food low in quality or preparation shows within hours in my case. Which I haven’t faced after enjoying a meal at this place. Goes to show that they use quality ingredients and cook the food in the right manner.
A big shout out to the owners for choosing quality ingredients, appointing friendly staff and serving delicious “home cooked” food 👏🏻🙏🏻
This place has become my...
Read moreMy experience at this restaurant was the worst I've had, and the workers were extremely disrespectful. We arrived at 1:30 PM and were told to wait for a phone call. After waiting for over an hour, we called back at 2:40 PM to check on our order, and they asked us to come inside.
It turns out that our number had been struck off without any notification. We were there with two hungry kids, and the experience was already starting to feel unpleasant. After we started eating our food, an elderly worker started taking out all the items inside. The person at the counter tried to stop him, but he insisted that we pick everything we needed at once, as if we were in a hostel and everything would be gone for the next meal.
While we were eating, all the items were taken away, and the elderly worker shouted at us to pick everything at once to eat. This experience was not only disrespectful but also incredibly inconvenient for us and our kids. We couldn't even comment on the food quality, as we left the restaurant without finishing our meal.
Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a pleasant dining experience. The workers were extremely disrespectful, and the service was inconvenient and poorly managed. There are many other options available that offer better food and service, and I suggest exploring...
