We shared our 43rd anniversary dinner at Jorg's on a Friday evening. We chose a austrian restaurant because we both grew up in a german/polish home & lived in Germany for over 3 years so we missed our native food. Austrian food is very similar to german food, just not as heavy. We made last minute reservations for 7pm. We showed up 30 mins. early and we seated promptly. The atmosphere was lively & relaxed, a little too loud for 1 on 1 private conversations ( my only slight complaint the entire evening) but it was not irritating in any way. Tables were pretty close together, but it reminded us of authentic Austrian restaurants in Vienna. Our waitress, Laura, was fabulous- prompt, informative & friendly. We ordered a variety of food items from each part of the menu just to sample as much as possible and portions were so large we took home a box full of leftovers to enjoy the next day. Appetizers: The wurst sampler plater was delicious w/a variety of white & red wurst, some with extra spices. It included a nice portion of the best, lightly spiced white sauerkraut I have ever had & a generous portion of spicy brown mustard. The fried Camabert cheese wedges were more than ample for 4, with the most delicious dark red, creamy raspberry sauce. The dish was almost dessert-like. For the main course, I had the weiner schnitzel w/2 different sauces (Franz Josef & ceamy onion gravy). Both sauces were light, creamy & perfectly flavored- not so overwhelming that it hid the flavor of the meat & spaetzel. It came w/ austrian potato salad & I ordered an extra side of spaetzel which paired perfectly with my sauces. My husband ordered the Hungarian Goulash w/spaetzel & he was delighted- the 2nd best goulash he has ever had the 1st being in Germany. For dessert, we had apfel streudel & bread pudding souffle. The streudel was perfectly authentic, w/vanilla rum cream sauce. The bread pudding souffle, however, was to die for. Served with a side of sweetened rum cream sauce, the dish was lighter than most bread puddings, but so flavorful with fresh almonds. This dish would win awards in any contest it entered. We were so pleased to try this restaurant- it made for a perfect anniversary dinner. We highly recommend Jorgs for any celebration or date night. Customers ranged in age from early 20s to late 80s. It appealled to everyone. Reservations recommended to guarantee a seat at the time you...

From the time you walk up to the front door and back out again. As close to Austrian-German experience you can get in Plano! Cozy atmosphere with exposed brick and looking/feeling like you are in the middle of Oktoberfest. On a Friday or Saturday during peak hours of 6 to 8:30, it will be loud, but fun. Make reservations!
The servers have personally experienced the balance of the menu so they can give great recommendations based on your interests and dietary restrictions.
I believe everything is made from scratch and it certainly tastes like it and the pride is evident with each plate.
Our group Started off with a mix of cold delicious beers and specialty cocktails. Drinks were followed by the Liptauer Teller or pretzel with traditional Austrian cheese, coupled with Camembert Kase or hand breaded Camembert Cheese with a cranberry cream sauce. Both were delicious. Camembert is a softer Brie-like cheese with similar flavor.
Our entrees varied from the Smoked Bratwurst Sandwich that was served on pretzel bread, which made for a nice protein and carb combo to the Budapest Bratwurst which is slightly spicy and uber delicious. Also the Breaded Chicken and the Breaded Pork Schnitzel platters. Chicken was good with the Pork taking the victory for overall flavor.
Sides included French fries, marinated sauerkraut, marinated red cabbage, Austrian potato salad, and Spätzle. Again, all hand cut or homemade. One of the best sauerkrauts I have had, and the Spätzle was yummy.
My next visit will include trying the Opa’s Spätzle Teller or the Austrian Spätzle tossed with a mushroom chive cream sauce. The whole platter section looks delicious, especially with scratch-made sauces.
We did manage to save room for desserts to split. The desserts are family recipes and prepared off-site. Apple (Apfel Strudel) and Chocolate cake were both delicious with a slight edge going to the Apple Strudel.
All walked out with smiles and commenting that we will be...
Read moreI was really excited to try this place given that I had heard really great things about it. The experience started great, as the staff was very friendly when we arrived and accommodated our request to sit outside (no one was out there). My partner ordered a beer and I ordered their pretzel which were both great. Another pair ended up coming out to sit on the patio as well, probably 15 minutes after arrived.
Then things started going downhill, unfortunately. We ordered two different schnitzels. The other pair sitting outside ordered their food probably 10-15 minutes after us. 20 minutes or so later, their food came out. We thought maybe because we ordered schnitzel, ours would take a little longer which was fine… but by the time they finished eating, we still didn’t have our food. The waiter, about 10 minutes earlier, had came by and told us our food would be out shortly. We didn’t see him again until the check came out, but we had to track down a different waitress to find out about the food. When we asked her, she said “Oh yes, it has been awhile. Let me check on that”. (She was our original waitress but they had swapped waiters, which was totally fine). She came back about 5 minutes later and said that there was a queue but we’re up next and we asked why the other pair received their food so much ahead of ours if there was a queue. We didn’t really get an answer other than it would be out soon. It then came out about 5 minutes later, and it was cold. The sauce and spaetzle were cold, which indicated this wasn’t just made, but probably that it was forgotten.
We tried to be gracious about it when she asked how things were, but could tell they weren’t wanting to remedy the situation in any way. We weren’t hoping to get a free meal given that we know how tough the food industry is, but a show of genuine customer service to try to make up for the subpar experience would have been appreciated (A free beer next time?).
Nonetheless, debating if we’ll go back as we always want to give folks a...
