Yum!!! I feel like I’m late to the party with a visit to this restaurant but we will be back and be back often. I have been craving plantains for months. I did a google search and BOOM Lilly’s Cafe was in our part of town.
We arrived on a Saturday at 9 am ish. Parking is awful, it’s in a strip mall and there's a coffee shop next door. We were greeted and seated right away. The restaurant was bright and clean with high ceilings, ample seating, several TVs and what appeared to be a fully stocked bar.
We ordered coffee and water. To our surprise they offered flavored creamer. BONUS!!! I selected the French toast platter with a side of PLANTAINS. My husband had the Haystack Signature offering with a side of black beans. There was so much food neither of us finished.
The only ding was the ladies restroom. The building is very old and while the restaurant received a makeover the bathrooms did not. A single women’s restroom with a coffee table for a “changing station” and non ADA compliance. The hallway, doorway and bathroom were all too small for a wheelchair. And they were out of TP.
Service was great and you can see they were working as a team. Menu was in English and Spanish. Food came out pretty fast and hot. Can’t wait to go back and try additional dishes (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and meals. Dessert offerings look amazing, including...
Read moreFirst off, letting y'all know my partner found a rubber band in their hashbrowns, we started laughing about it but I know not many people would find that funny. Our food was remade.
Entering the restaurant the servers were welcoming and friendly, they let us choose our seats and we were able to take a look through the menu. It could have been that it was too slow of a day as both the bartender and the server were busy on their phones for a long while after we were ready to order, I had to make some noise with the utensils to get their attention. The restaurant itself isn't so bad, there's really pretty potted plants everywhere and the tables were well kept/clean. The walls themselves though do have random splotches of food on them or stains of some kind and there was a ripped booth on the right side of the restaurant under a big picture frame.
The women's bathroom wasn't pleasing to be in, the bottom walls were dirty and the toilet was dirty too and had something in it.
Overall, I'm not sure if I want to come back, but I'm glad the servers were very friendly and accommodating. I think that would be what would get me to try this place...
Read moreWe were visiting Plano and meeting with friends. It was a little earlier in the day and half of us wanted lunch and the other half wanted breakfast. So with some Google help we found this place. Initially we had no idea they had Guatemalan offerings as well, but once we went in and saw the menu, I knew right away that's what I was getting. I'm not Guatemalan, obviously, and can't honestly say I have had a lot of food from there, but this stuff was amazing. You may think 11 is too early for shrimp but you'd be wrong. I didn't know the name of it but it was the best choice I made the whole trip. It was a shrimp dish served with beans and rice. I know you are thinking "typical" but you don't understand, even the frijoles were amazing. I didn't know beans could be so good. The service was great and the atmosphere was fun. If I'm ever in Plano again I'm...
