UPDATE 7/11/24

When a Dosa craving strikes, this place fires on all cylinders! Still Five Stars. Food and Service continues to be on point. We were greeted by Ali and saw Karthick and Hemanth who recognized us from our last visit three months ago. Our last visit prioritized Ghee Masala Dosa(repeat item), Samosa Chaat , Pani Puri, and Onion Bhajia.

This visit highlighted three items and were the stars of the show: 1.)Ghee Masala Dosa 2.)Paneer Butter Masala with Rice 3.)Butter Naan I loved the crispiness of the Dosa and the array of chutneys it came with; the most noteworthy being the tomato. The, deep, robust mouthfeel contrasted well with the tangy, savory flavor profile.

The Paneer was softly simmered, tender, and an absolute joy to eat. Furthermore, the silkiness and richness of the sauce enhanced by the jaggery was a delight to the palate. The exotic spices melded together to strike the perfect balance of flavor. I would definitely recommend this dish and would most likely order it again on our next visit.

Great job! We will see you again soon! ————————————————————————— We have been craving chaat lately and Yelp suggested this place. It is relatively new - having just opened in November 2023 - and with only 4 mostly five-star reviews, we thought we would stop by and try them out. They absolutely nailed it and hit the ball out of the park!

We walked in and were immediately greeted by Hemanth with a smile, professional work ethic, and provided with extremely kind and helpful customer service. I explained we were first time visitors and he guided us through the Menu and suggested what to order. Here is a breakdown:

Masala Chai 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect balance of spice and flavor

Samosa Chaat 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect texture and crunch and ratio of chole to samosa

Pani Puri 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Perfect Crispiness and Temperature

Onion Pakoda 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Delightfully crispy bundles of heaven

Ghee Masala Dosa 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lovely texture and taste for which I will certainly return in the future. Came with a side of tomato, coconut, peanut/ date and coriander chutney for dipping. All excellent!

Crispiness, texture, temperature, spice, and flavor were on point. Perfect amount of salt and not at all oily. All excellent! Impeccable and punctual service. Ambience was reminiscent of roadside Indian Cafes that my parents would bring me to when we would visit relatives in Mumbai.

Both Hemanth and Karthick engaged in conversation and explained how they established the business and how they conduct duties on a daily basis. Most impressive is the homemade food quality. It is clear that this place adheres to the highest standards as nothing is ever frozen. All dishes are made from scratch daily.

Hemanth made a suggestion to end our meal with a most noteworthy and delicious dessert - his custom creation - the Paan Ladoo. Bursting with savory and sweet palate-pleasing spices and flavors, this was one unique item that left me wanting more. Thank you for all your suggestions. We will be back to try other menu items soon! Interested to try the paneer tikka masala and the naan when we return for lunch or perhaps dinner...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely Delicious Authentic South Indian Non-Veg Feast!

If you’re a true biryani lover or someone who appreciates rich South Indian flavors, Salem RR is a must-visit! I recently tried their Chicken Biryani, Chicken Kari Parotta, and Mutton Chukka, and every dish was bursting with authentic Tamil Nadu-style taste and aroma. The Chicken Biryani was exceptional — flavorful, perfectly spiced, and cooked with fragrant basmati rice that carried the essence of traditional Salem-style masala. The chicken pieces were tender, juicy, and soaked up all the biryani spices beautifully. What stood out most was the balance — not too oily, not too heavy, yet incredibly satisfying with every bite. The Chicken Kari Parotta was a real showstopper! The flaky, layered parotta paired with spicy, thick chicken gravy was pure comfort food. The kari had that homely, rustic touch with the right blend of pepper, curry leaves, and masala that hits the spot for anyone craving a hearty South Indian meal. And the Mutton Chukka — wow! This dish truly captured the authentic Chettinad-style flavor. The mutton was cooked to perfection — soft, well-marinated, and coated with a dry, roasted masala that was rich and full-bodied. The combination of spices and texture made it one of the best chukka preparations I’ve had in a long time. The restaurant itself is clean and welcoming, with quick service and a warm, down-to-earth vibe. The staff were courteous and made sure the food was served hot and fresh. Portion sizes are generous, and the prices are quite reasonable for the quality and quantity you get. Overall, Salem RR delivers an authentic South Indian non-veg dining experience that’s hard to find elsewhere. If you crave real flavors, not the watered-down versions you often get in city restaurants, this place will make you come back again and again. Highly recommended for biryani and spicy...

19th May 2024(Sunday) : Lunch Ordered 3 Non-Veg Thali (kari virunthu) & 1 mini mutton thali for kid, 1 mango lassi (they forgot to bring.. had to ask for it ! ), 1 rose milk (they forgot forever )

None of the items were hot or crispy.. (only exception is hot white rice 😔). Other than one chicken curry, all other curries were plain. Meals was unlimited and no one even made an attempt to ask for if we need anything; Kids meal (mini mutton thali) was ridiculously delayed and we had to ask for it, when it arrived it had chicken biryani as main item; the person who served got defensive and said it comes only with chicken biryani They got a hot appetizer and it is full of oil; we had to squeeze the oil out of it ..! They forgot to serve raita for the normal meals and when asked for.. as usual they delivered it after 10minutes.

Overall, it is the worst dining experience & not worth for 23$/meal cost. (Overall damage 94$). We got a chance to tell our feedback to them about bad dining experience and the forgotten item rose milk; the person didnt bother to show empathy rather got defensive saying they started as to-go place and now converted to dine-in.

The place is literally empty(refer video) and we were the only family in there. I wish they make few changes and make the...
