The Port of Peri Peri — Restaurant in Plano

Food is really good, but service isn't (like so many other reviews about this place). Tried this for the first time the other day, after hearing/reading a lot about it. I read some reviews, so was prepared.

First, the food is good. We got a whole chicken with "milder" spice. It was just about right for someone that doesn't like spicy, just a small bit of heat, not too bad. The chicken is moist and the flavor is really good. The size of the chicken is also pretty big, not like that tiny bird you get from, say Boston Market. Of course, it does cost more.

I got the chicken platter that comes with 2 large sides, I got rice and corn. They give you several containers of white and red sauce, so maybe they changed their policy after so many complaints of not enough sauce. The red sauce was wayyyy too hot for me. The white sauce is good, but seemed closer to like a ranch sauce than the garlic sauce other people mentioned.

Corn was good, I think it's made with the same white sauce. Rice was good, just slightly bland but good with the rest of the meal.

I also ordered some hummus and steamed vegetables. Here's where the service fell short. Everyone warns that you should check your order before leaving, so I did. Missing the pita that comes with the hummus. No big deal, but woulda been ticked if I didn't check.

The guy also mentions that they ran out of steamed vegetables, so he gave me a rice instead. At first I was like, that's not a great substitute. But what can you do, it's ok. I thought about requesting another corn instead, but after waiting so long I just wanted to take it and go.

That's the other thing. I was waiting at the side of the counter where signs said Doordash/grubhub pickup. I assumed that's where I should be. They saw me there and never came to ask if I was there for pickup. I didn't see an order sitting on the side ready to go, so I assumed it wasn't ready yet anyway. After waiting a while, I walked over to the guy at the cash register and asked. He brought my order out, it was in a warming oven, so it had been ready all along. Wonder how long he would have let me stand there waiting :-(

The food already takes at least 20 minutes, but it's cooked to order, so that's ok. Just don't make me have to ask for my order.

There were maybe 3-4 other groups eating in at the time, so they weren't extremely busy.

Overall, it's worth trying, as long as you're prepared for the problems, which will almost...

Met here with a group of friends for a birthday celebration. Never heard of the place but was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. I don't think anyone in our group had a bad thing to say about the food except everyone I was sitting by said it was very spicy. I ordered last in our group and ordered Medium heat for spice on my chicken wrap. Listening to everyone say how spicy their Mild spice was had me worried. I'm not a big spicy person but I like a little kick to my food. I braced myself when my Medium spice level food came and wow, it was great! I didn't think it was too spicy at all. I also tried a bite of a friends Mild spiced dish and it wasn't too spicy either. Anyway, I say all that bc you may want to know if you don't like your food with a little kick to get one of the non-spiced levels. The biggest disappointment was the ladies bathroom....the entire floor was wet and not wet like it had just been cleaned but wet like it was filthy and someone had just dumped water everywhere or maybe the toilet overflowed. Not clean and inviting at ALL and the toilet seat is very lose! Also I placed a to-go order for my husband after I started eating my meal and they didn't call my name when it was ready as I was expecting. I finally went to the counter and they had it placed in a warming box waiting for me. Would haven been nice to know they were going to do that when I placed the order. Otherwise, it's a nice change of pace from the Tex-Mex, Italian and American choices that we're mostly...

We had an amazing time. food is great. Loved the chicken. All sauces are delcious. Staff is very friendly and accommodate as best as they can, as they are new. So be patient.

Day 1 This place is a nice. Brand new, clean, comfortable.

Since it is day one, they are busy but the person on cashier is very humble and answering all the questions people have. also recommending good options

We here for chicken so we got the 1/4 chicken breast and wing with lemon and herb with side of peri peri cor And another order ..same with extra hot with peri peri fries

This way we can see and taste the flavour and food..

We did place order at 1:41pm We looked around to see how many other people are waiting and so far 6 table Its 2:30 and no food. but we know its day one and they sorting it out....will wait patiently** Got food and

Chicken was delicious....loved the extra hot..

Did not get corn, as they ran out..

So based on food that we tried I would say Food. 5/5 Service. 4/5 based on the fact they acknowledge they were short handed... They also gave us vegetables and chips since we did not get corn. And they were delicious.

I will come back with family, after a week...give them time to get it going....

Day 2 We went back again Day two same time Service was excellent and food delicious. We ordered 3 full chicken. Corn, fries, olives....loved it....rice was desi style...so it was okay....
