I can confirm that there are occasional service issues, which usually amounts to slow ordering processes and a wait for your food. It feels like this location is practically unmanaged (at least, I’ve never seen a manager on site), which explains why the service is so hit or miss. However, it’s not as god-awful across the board as many reviews have made it seem, and I particularly have to take issue with people leaving 1-star reviews for ordering a crepe that had meat in it (which is listed on the menu) when they’re vegetarian, or expecting to be served after they were told the staff was in the middle of changing shifts. So I’m adding my personal take on this location now, because I feel like the experience you get from Whisk and Eggs isn’t being accurately represented thanks to a bunch of bad-faith reviewers. Who’d have thought that the people who go to an open-air shopping center catering to affluent and haughty who’ve likely never worked food service might be…well, haughty and lacking in understanding about minor inconveniences (or major inconveniences caused by their own unwillingness to read the menu), right?
The food here has never let me down. Every crepe I’ve had here has been either good, great, or downright delicious. The coffee could be better, but it could also be a hell of a lot worse — feeling a light 7/10 on that front. Neither the food nor the coffee is quite as good as the parent location downtown, but considering how much closer this location is to anyone living on the north side of town, I’d consider the difference to be extremely minor. In fact, it’s so alike in quality that I’d rather drive 10 minutes to get here nine times out of 10 than drive down HW75 for god-knows-how-long to get to the technically-higher-quality parent location, and I’ve never once left feeling like I made the wrong call.
However, I don’t doubt those legitimate reviews that discuss forgotten items, switched orders, or waits in excess of 30 minutes. You’ll usually see that on the busiest days, of course, but I’ve also gotten stuck waiting for a crepe here in the middle of the week with practically no one else around. In my experience, if something has been forgotten with my order, it has been fixed post-haste the second I bring it up — all it takes is showing the staff a bit of understanding, as it turns out, and they’re quite willing to reconcile the problem for you. Still, they are understaffed and the staff they do have is not made up of the fastest or least forgetful group of people. I have definitely received coffee that, while still warm, was much cooler than it should’ve been and (freshly made) crepes that I ordered 25 mins prior. It does not surprise me to hear that people have genuinely received the wrong order, or that their food did come out cold. I’ve never gotten a cold crepe from this place, but the speed they work at and their difficulty in juggling multiple orders doesn’t make me 100% confident that I never will.
In summary, I’d say this is not the place to go if you’re in a hurry, but if you’re willing to wait and be patient with the staff, the food is worth it. Unfortunately, it’s located in the sort of place where stuck-up, well-off folks go, so it’s destined to get bombed by reviews about petty things, but nevertheless you should know before you go that the staff is sometimes quite slow and bona fide mistakes have happened in the past. If you prefer not to deal with those things, I recommend you make the drive to the other...
Read moreUnfortunately this dessert spot only gets 1 Star for me. And that’s because of the service. I stood at the counter waiting to order while watching one employee preparing a crepe and 2 others talking and staring at their phones. Eventually one of the 2 decided to come and take my order. I only wanted a plain crepe- nothing inside and nothing outside. It wasn’t on the menu but I asked if I could just have that. The look and response I received was as if I were just insane. She tells me -no and we don’t have that. Says the closest thing I can get would be one with butter and sugar. I’m confused for a sec. I ask her why. She says because it will be dry. Righhhhhht but In my head I’m thinking- why is that your problem? I’m confused. Maybe this kid is right?? So instead I tell her OK & guess I’ll have the butter and sugar.
But as it’s being made I think a bit more and go back to tell her I really don’t want any butter or any sugar. She just looks at me - like I’m crazy but with a sort of smugness and says again- it’s going to be dry..and not even light butter??, and don’t I want any powdered sugar on top?? I say- nope, just completely plain. She tells dude making the crepe- (but in a..hey this stupid lady would like to eat a dry crepe sort of way) and he too makes a wow ok that’s weird look to her and me. I mean just make the fkn crepe and give it to me is what I’m thinking. I’m paying for it. What difference should it make to either of them how I want to eat a crepe?? I was handed my tray with a -here’s your dry crepe you psychopath look- rather than an enjoy your crepe or enjoy your evening. I mean it was just ridiculous.
And btw the way the crepe was delicious and not “dry” at all.
But I’m obviously not returning. Press Waffle Co doesn’t give me attitude for a...
Read moreLooks great but service, rather lack there of was the reason for my disappointment. I ordered The GOAT crepe along with a Nutella latte to go, but when they called my name for the order, I guess they forgot it was to-go so it was on a tray; small mistake no big deal, it was simple to just put it in a box. However then I waited for the guy to get the coffee, which I thought he was going to get but he started doing other things...I tried to say something but it would have been nice if he just asked if there was anything else...cause I tried to mention the coffee once when he was giving someone else there food but he had already turned his back again, lol I felt super awkward just trying to stare him down, I wasn’t invincible, I was literally right in front of the counter where you order and he didn’t say anything. So finally when he looked back I asked him for the coffee I ordered which was right by the register. I should have known something was wrong but I had never been to this place and I was in a bit of a hurry and I just ordered something on a whim since I wanted coffee and something savory with my waffle ( the real reason I stopped by Legacy Hall). Plus my name is super unique so when he called I assumed he had my whole order, ehh. Anywho I’m a vegetarian so I could not eat this since it had chicken and bacon :(. So just really annoyed I wasted my time, money plus tip :/ to a place that didn’t really seem to care about service or just...
