I use to eat at original Norma's, so I wanted to try it under new owners, give it a shot. The Cuban was OK, but I ordered the Norma, and got the Tampa. The server offered to fix them, but I said it's OK. My issue with the Cuban was the "roasted" pork, it had no flavor. I am married to a Cuban that was born in Ybor City, and I know Mojo shredded pork on a Cuban. My other half's Aunt Dalia used to make the devil crabs for a very famous establishment in Ybor, Norma's were mostly filling, no crab and a bit over cooked today, but the lack of crab is not their fault, it's who they get them from, I think it's the same place Publix in Plant City does. There were pieces of cooked tomato in them, that's not authentic, should just be paste. But the Cuban was pressed perfectly, with the right amount of mustard and pickle. Tea was fresh and good. Decor was inviting. It was nice and quiet and cozy also. But please use a different cheese, real Swiss not processed, it made the Cuban even more tasteless. I will go back, I want to try the soups, and papas rellenas. Oh yeah and no Cuban sugar cookies or guava turnovers, at least I didn't see them. Yes, I am a Cuban Sandwich Snob...and will a little tweeking this establishment...
Read moreThe sandwich was great. The service was terrible. And I think $12.00 for a Cuban sandwich is a bit much. That was for just a sandwich, nothing else. Put in the order, she asked if it was for here or to go. I said since there are no tables available, just make it to go but hopefully a table will become available before it's ready. 25 min later... I finally said , how long does it take to make a sandwich? She looked at me like I had 2 heads! I told her I have been waiting 25 minutes for my Cuban. She looked around and shrugged her shoulders. Then a man came out of the back and told her to check the bag sitting right behind her on the counter. She actually said, oh this is a to go order and you were sitting down. I will go back simply because the sandwich was sooo good but I'll make sure to keep an eye...
Read moreOMG, stopped in to get Cuban Coffee ☕. Plant City Coffee shops and many other shoppers are closed on Sunday and Monday. Norma's was open when many other locations were not. Although they did not have Coffee, I wanted to try their cubans. Great cubans are hard to come by.
I found the place where great Cuban sandwiches 😋 and this is it!!!!!!!! There are the traditional meats and on the top layer they put shredded roasted pork with a beautiful light Cuban flavor on top layer before heating my sandwich 🥪 in the Cuban sandwich press.
So glad I stopped in and you all should as well. Just perfect and I will be back.
Thanks sooooo much for being open on Monday and having the best Cuban with the fabulous addition on shredded roasted pork added to it. Most delicious Cuban ever.
I will be back...
