I’ve been a loyal customer to the Aventura location for over a year but recently moved to the area, however I will probably never return to this location.
One of the worst experiences I’ve had with management in a restaurant. I was there on Thursday August 31st at 4pm. I’ve had better experiences at fast food restaurants in terms of service and this place is not at the price point to be treating their guests the way I was treated.
I was sitting down waiting at a table for my mother. The manager walked by me twice and did not greet me. The place was empty. Completely empty. She looked me up and down but didn’t even crack a smile. Her energy made me feel unwelcomed. When I went up to the counter I asked her if any of the baked goods were vegan, she confidently said “no”. I was surprised because the other two I’ve been to always had some type of vegan option for baked goods.
When my mom finally arrived another girl who was very sweet but seemed new took our order. I wanted a gluten free wrap with the veggie patty they use for the veggie burger in it because I couldn’t eat soy or any animal products/ animal replacement type products including the beyond beef. I said I was willing to pay extra. I literally did not care about the price I just wanted to have a meal I was able to eat. She said let me ask my manager and she asked her manager (and this all happened right in front of me) I saw and heard the manager say “no”.
The girl turned around and said no sorry we can’t do that. That didn’t make any sense to me. Why is it that me, a paying customer who is willing to pay more (when it shouldn’t even be the case because I’m just replacing one thing for another) can not have a veggie patty in my wrap. So I said let me talk to your manager. I looked at her explained what I wanted and she goes “ok” and rings it in no problem. The only reason she told the girl “no” is because she was clearly new and she didn’t want to have to walk 3 steps to ring it in herself. And mind you this entire time I’m being very nice and patient as I understand my order isn’t a simple one, which is why I said from the beginning whatever it is I’m willing to pay an up charge but that I just needed to eat.
We leave the kind girl at the counter a 20% tip which I felt bad about as I know they probably tip pool and she was the only one who was actually being sweet, understanding, and helpful. While I’m eating I went up to the counter to get an extra condiment (which I gladly paid for) and as I was waiting I glanced at the menu and the word “vegan banana bread” stuck out to me. When the nice employee came back up to give me my condiment I asked her if the banana bread in the display was vegan and she said yes. I said your manager told me it wasn’t. And she said yes it is, and I said so your manager is lying to me then. And she nervously said no and please hold on.
She walks up to her manager who is sitting down and having a conversation with another lady at a table and asks her. The manager wouldn’t even make eye contact with me but was looking at her employee making crazy faces. And I was standing right there 5 ft away and I said “you told me nothing in here was vegan” to which she didn’t respond. She just completely ignored me.
I was stunned. I went back to my table, grabbed some money and gave the girl who was actually helpful another tip and told her that she does a better job than her manager and I said it loud enough for the manager to hear it. I went back to my table, finished our meal, grabbed all our stuff, threw it in the garbage, and placed all the plates next to it. Most people probably wouldn’t have tipped, would have left the table an absolute mess, and not felt bad after being treated by management like that.
I’ve worked in the hospitality/service industry for 10 years and the management style at this place makes me never ever want to go back. Truly disappointing experience. The sweet blonde should be...

Read moreI have to say I LOVE The food here. Been a regular since it opened. Maybe its the economy, but the portions are getting smaller. For the price, i might have to stop coming. I just cant stomach $30 for a salad with salmon. The portions are about 20% less than they were a couple months ago. My salad had only 8 cashews in the whole thing. barely any carrots and sprouts. the salad was mostly lettuce. Sorry Carrot express. Your just not worth the price anymore. It was nice while it lasted.
After writing my review - i went and read others. Same complaint across the board about small portions for big prices. Carrot express responds with the same exact copy + paste generic response - "We strive to provide a quality dining experience that reflects the ingredients, preparation, and overall value we offer. We hope to welcome you back in the future...
