Today, 11/23/21 I ordered 6 whole pies and a hamburger and 2 orders of fries. The lady called me up front for me to order, then she answered the phone for a 'pick-up', which was fine. She was upset with me because I didn't respond to her...I did not know she hung up the phone. She took my order, took my $100.44 and gave me a receipt with the # 159. After 5 or 6 or more other customers came in and ordered and got their order and left, my friend and I asked what happened to our order. She also ordered 3 slices of Lemon Pie. We asked another employee where our ordered was, telling her several people have come and gone after our order was given to the cashier. My friend said we were waiting almost half hour and the lady got defensive. Saying she didn't take the order otherwise she would have completed it. The lady asked the Cook where #159 was and she reached up over the grill and got it down. The Cook told the lady that she called out the number. The lady turned to us and said 'she called the number'. No way was our number called, we heard every number called and those who ordered after us went and got their food. The lady we spoke with was annoyed with us, we didn't attack with tones of voices and all it would have taken was 'a mistake took place...we are sorry. Then I would not be writing a negative review. Stuff happens. By the time I got home my hamburger was somewhat warm and the fires were definitely cold. It was busy, and I know the ladies were doing their job but it would be nice if she had just acknowledged the error and not be so defensive. My friend did say thank you to her and wished her a Happy Thanksgiving, but believe me it was an effort for her to nod to my friend. On a positive note, this is the first time this has happened to me and the pies are good, the burgers are good and this won't deter me from visiting Nations for another pie or hamburger. Happy...
Read moreI saw this place one day while on my way to work, told my kids we’ll try it one day. This morning I called in to place an order for pickup. It’s about a 15min drive from home. Placed the order and got there to pick up. Walked in, the ladies turned around to look at me without saying anything, turned right back around to continue talking and working the grill. I was the only person in the store. I walked up to the counter and said “good morning, I’m here to pick up an order that I called in for”. They looked at me again and again no acknowledgment. I waited another couple of minutes and finally one of the ladies asked if I’m picking up an order - I said “yes”. She goes and pull my already packed order then the second lady comes and said “what’s the name?” No greetings, no smile... strictly business. Told her my name and she told me how much. I used my card to pay.... she said it’s declined... I said nope it went through. She said it timed out. So, she reset it again and I tried it again. She said it’s declined. I said it clearly says “approved” on the credit machine. She continues to argue with me and said if it’s approved the receipt would automatically print. Just wanting to get out of there because I was running late on time I said ok ill use a different card. I used my ATM card and it went through. I later checked my CC account and it showed two transactions from Nation’s. I’m going to have to file a case now to clear it from my account. What a waste of my time and a bad start to my morning. Really bad customer service and rude. It was my first time there and will be my last. Can’t stand to be...
Read moreThis place is my favorite burger joint in the bay area, or anywhere. The bacon cheeseburgers are fantastic, the plain cheeseburgers & hamburgers are great, chicken sandwiches and salmon burgers are good, the breakfast menu is small but delicious, the fries are crispy, the shakes are good, and the pies...THE PIES! Probably my favorite pies and cheesecakes come from Nation's. Their cheesecake is the best, and every year around October to December the pumpkin pie is fantastic.
The wait times are usually long, especially at rush hour or at midnight-2am when the nearby farringtons bar closes. When it's packed it's also hard to get a booth to sit down at, the inside area is really small. It's all worth it though, the food is 98% reliable you're going to get exactly what you got last time if you enjoyed it. Usually pretty good about the whole condiments thing, if I say no onions and tomatoes, there's never any onions or tomatoes on my burger. Going there hundreds of times I could count probably on one hand how many times they've screwed up an order.
I wish the breakfast menu was just a little bigger, or had a larger option instead of me being gluttonous asking for a three egger with double bacon, side sausage & french toast 😲
Nation's is the best place for burgers. Almost all of the spots I've went to across the bay are the same, so wherever there's one near you, hit it up and realize the truth. Bacon cheeseburger, no tomatoes no onions, fries, chocolate milkshake, and a large slice of cherry cheesecake....
