Senor Iguanas — Restaurant in Pocatello

The food was just okay. I agree with the Google user who said the salsa is tomato sauce or stewed tomatoes from a can. I didn't see them ladle it out of a can like that user, but it tastes like canned tomatoes. If you're going to use canned tomatoes or tomato sauce in a restaurant, it should always be cooked for 15 minutes to destroy the metallic taste from sitting in a can. Not doing so is extremely lazy. However, the food at this restaurant is pretty much the norm for Pocatello - not good. There is an authentic Mexican restaurant in town, but the cooks must smoke cigarettes or have killed their taste buds some other way because they WAY oversalt their food. There's also an authentic Mexican drive through in town, but they make things differently every time you order; you may or may not get what you ordered and you never know what to expect. Given those experiences with the other Mexican restaurants here, Senor Iguanas is the best I've found so far. At least you know what you're getting each time and you won't have a week's worth of sodium in...

If i could give 0 stars i would. I went to this restaurant because of the good google reviews,so i ordered the tamales and a huge smoothered burrito for my boyfriend and i. It looked amazing,didnt smell like anything. Now i come from a mexican family and my parents own a taco truck in Oregon,so my expectations for the food at mexican restaurants are very high. When i bit into my tamales,they were cold,they didnt taste good,the masa didn't have any flavor,they were very dry, the rice and beans on the side were DISGUSTING. The rice had no flavor,it seemed like it was steemed white rice and then a tiny bit of seasoning to it. And the beans were canned beans,no bueno. The burrito we got , was so poorly made,it was stuffed with the nasty beans and rice, the sauce on top was theworst tasting sauce I've ever had!!! The burrito BARLEY had any meat. Needless to say, we threw it all away. We dont like wasting food,but we just could not eat that garbage. We wont be going back, and honestly dont waste your money there,you better off going...

So I normally would have rated this restaurant a 5 star for food and the service. However, unfortunately this evening was rather disappointing...

So it was very clear they were SUPER short handed. It took long time to get our drinks, or a refill of which was water. But SUPER LONG time to get our food. It was actually 56 minutes from the time the order was placed. They were out of chips and salsa when we 1st got there. Was told they didn't have ground beef for the meat. We eventually did get the chips and salsa. Which has never been a disappointment. It was good. I ended up choosing shredded and I have to say it was scarce and definitely not near as good as the ground is. Mine came out luke warm. And more and more people came and I seen 2 tables get up and leave after 30 minutes and no refills on their drink either. Sad. Because this is normally good food and service. But seems to have gone down hill the last several times we have gone.
