Location: It's located in a little bit rundown part of town, and the building itself is a little bit dated. You might pass it should you not look at the ratings. Parking is plentiful.
Ambiance/Service: inside, there's reasonable seating in booths and a few tables. The decor is typical family style owned restaurant, with pictures of Thai food and features. Nothing particular memorable, but good enough. Really I come for the food.
Service, on the other hand this was excellent. The restaurant closes at 9:00 p.m., I may call at 8:50 and asked if it was too late to come and eat. They invited us to come anyway.
We got there about 8:58, ordered our food, and waited. We ate normally and calmly without feeling rushed. In fact, we stayed in Chad and left until about 9:35 or 9:40. And never once did they ask us to leave. I was with my family and we were leaving my son at college there, so it was a nice dinner for us to relax before we said goodbye. I can't thank you all enough for that.
Menu: lots of great tie choices here which many tease the pallet. Full disclosure, Thai food is one of my absolute favorites. There's almost anything on the menu I would eat. There's a few surprises as well. I was a little disappointed because they had Thai style roasted chicken on several pictures, but they discontinued it. I so wanted that. At any rate they have all the curries, lots of great noodle dishes, and a few other surprises that I hadn't had before.
One of which was roasted duck Curry. I've had that here and there, mostly in big cities like San Francisco. And I ventured.
Food: Damn, Big thumbs up for the roasted duck Curry. It was absolutely Divine. My wife wanted some, and she almost had to threaten me to get a little bit. 😂. Actually I did share and I took some of her noodles. But honestly, my Curry was much better than her noodles.
This is not the first time I've been here, as I went there several years ago during a business trip. I had forgotten about it until we witnessed time, and boy was. I pleased. It's got to be one of the best restaurants in all of Pocatello. What a nugget to find in that City. Legitimate Thai food in a small town. I had Thai food all over this country, and this is good. Really really good
Will I go again? Heck yeah. In fact, with my kid playing football at ISU, I'll probably go every time I'm in town. Thanks, Thai kitchen, especially for the kindness and letting us...
Read moreThere is a reason this place is busy. It’s because it is very good. I’m from out of town and the Thai kitchen was right next-door to my hotel so I’ve come here every night and I will share what were my favorites. One of my absolute favorite is the number three under their appetizers called the veggie fresh roll. I had it served with peanut sauce and hoisin sauce and it was amazing and fresh and the portion was very large. I also tried the number 10 curry puffs under the appetizer menu. They were very good although very greasy. They are stuffed with chicken and potatoes and onions as served with a tiny little cup of cucumber salad that had the most amazing dressing. I also tried their number five under their appetizers called fried wontons. They were good but again a little greasy and I figure you should get more than eight tiny wontons for $5.89. I also tried the number 38 under Thai Currys, it is called the house special curry and it has red curry with peanut sauce, coconut milk, bell pepper, carrots, and broccoli. I highly recommend this soup And I ordered shrimp in mine but don’t expect a lot of shrimp. I also tried their Shrimp Pad Thai. It was OK. The sauce was a heavy so I would suggest asking them to use half the amount of sauce because they cannot make it with sauce on the side, which is what I originally asked for, because it would stick to the pan. I also tried number 17 In the soup and salad section which is the full-size cucumber salad because I was so impressed with the Dressing On tiny cucumber salad that came with the curry puffs. The cucumber salad is exactly that, it has a bunch of tiny little cucumbers, sesame seeds, and the most amazing house vinaigrette dressing. So to wrap it up I would highly suggest this place!!! My only complaint is that the fried wonton, curry puffs, and Thai spring rolls that are deep-fried are all way too greasy I’m not sure if the oil is not hot enough or what other than that please go by and give it a shot!they are very busy I highly suggest calling ahead!!! I did not get to dine in but all four times when I was there there was plenty of dining space It is just the to go stuff that’s very busy, So definitely call ahead and order your meal before you...
Read more11 months after my 1st review I decided to give them another chance and went back with my daughter & grandson. We went on Saturday at noon and didn't have any wait time. We had the Pad Thai (no peanuts), Pad Kee Mao, and Combination Fried Rice. Everything was tasty and with the right spice level.
The service was quick and attentive. The food was all brought out together and we didn't have to ask for utensils. It was a great eating experience. I'm adding 2 more stars to my original review. Keeping 1 star off for my last experience. We live less than a mile away and will be adding this to our regular eating out rotation. If it continues with the great food & service I'll give it back the 5th star.
The only Con was how cold it was. It was a 50 degree day outside and inside it felt like they didn't have any heat on. We all kept our sweaters on. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ With all the great reviews the Thai Kitchen has I was expecting a great meal & service. Was sorely disappointed.
My friend & I both ordered from the lunch menu at the same time. The soup was brought out immediately but it was lukewarm. It looked like Egg Drop Soup but had corn in it and was sweet. My friend received her meal and had it 1/2 eaten before I received mine. I had the Pad See-ew with level 3 spiciness and all I could taste was sweetness until I got to the bottom of the dish. Finally, some spicyness!
The ice tea was watered down. When I asked for sugar I was brought a small bowl of it, but no spoon. I poured the sugar in and used my straw to stir with.
When we were served our entrees we had to ask for forks to eat them with. Our server told us he would see if the kitchen had any cleaned yet. He returned immediately with 1 for my friend. I received my fork after my meal was served and I asked for it.
I went in expecting great and received less...
