A welcome surprise in an unlikely location. I am an Esports player for ISU right nextdoor, and I figured I’d look for a place to eat before practice tonight. I saw this place on maps, and I never even knew it existed, but the reviews were high, so I decided to give it a try with my mother. We were very pleased with the experience. Let me start with the bad.
We were met at the register by a well mannered and very mature younger kid. He took really good care of us and seemed a little nervous but all around good at what he was doing. However, I am more patient then a lot of people, so some more strict and hard-headed customers might find this way of being helped at the register inconvenient or bad in some way. Fair warning! But you have no complaints from me there, I thought he did perfect.
My second and last little issue with the place was on the sanitary end. There was a good bit of trash and grime on the floors, but when it comes down to it, the tables and chairs were completely clean, so it doesn’t really affect the dining experience, only the atmosphere.
Now I would like to highlight some good aspects. The price was about average for these filling and delicious meals. I got the super burrito and my mother got the bean and cheese burrito, and they were high on my list of burritos I have ever tried! The red sauce complimented my burrito very well. Definitely good for the price and type of business. I am hoping to try their breakfast burritos soon, perhaps even tomorrow!
I would also like to highlight the amazing atmosphere. It’s a cozy little family business with some good decor and nice cultural music. I felt really calm and joyful in this pleasantly crafted atmosphere.
I think it is very crucial that we keep these little businesses alive, as they are often quite the enjoyable experience to visit. I hope to become a regular very soon, and I hope to bring these good people some more business with this review. The five star reviews are not lying to you when they say that this is truly an...
Read moreMexican food is one of my basic food groups! This is some of the best Mexican I have had in Idaho. I ordered two tacos and a trisope (never had this before). The food is exceptional. The woman running the kitchen (I think she is the owner) was making fresh corn tortillas for our dishes. I have NEVER had that at any restaurant ever. The prices were very reasonable (unfortunately I think going out to eat has just become ridiculously expensive overall). The portions were generous... and the food was so, so good. I will be back. Side note - the woman running the kitchen (cooking everything) came out to check and see if we liked our food. She was super friendly and sincere. I highly recommend this place if you love Mexican. The carne asada was crispy and high quality (not gristle like it often is at other places). I don't think you can go wrong with...
Read moreI am hooked. I just had their super burrito with pulled pork (carnitas) and it had "a little bit of everything", in a great way. It was not all mashed together, but carefully stacked; the burrito was so massive. Yet, it was "light" enough to barely finish it. The guac, potatoes, beans, rice and meat (which there was lots of, unlike cafe rio) meshed so well with the little bit of pico and sour cream. The salsa bar made it even better, (the two salsas on the right hand side are the best—and nicely spicy). The other reviews don't lie: their tortillas are a work of art.
I don't lightly give away a five star rating in every category, but their shop is clean and cute, the lady is so nice, and they are working hard to keep their well-earned perfect five...
