EDIT: DONE!!!!! Don’t give me punches on my 13 punch card for buying Lox every time if you are going to turn around and tell your workers that the free punch cards don’t count for Lox.
I'm going to go down in stars progressively cause I like this place, I'm not sure what is happening with the new ownership but I'm not pleased.
I do not like going in, the environment is oppressive. But! I like bagels. So, I call ahead. I've been doing so ever since the window was put in. This is the first time in over a month that I've had my phone call answered. I have tried several times, sometimes several times a day to get someone to answer. I kept giving you all a chance. Finally, someone answers today. Yay!
I got to the window and sat there for several minutes before someone checked on me. I was asked if I ordered ahead. I said yes, but maybe y'all are used to people not reading the signs about ordering ahead, so I would understand that, but it just seems weird that I'd be sitting there that long in ignorance.
Your POS system did not allow me to leave a tip, so I feel bad for your workers that they have to put up with bad management, an oppressive environment, and no tips.
Now I have my bagel, and I've discovered the lettuce is now shredded instead of full leaves. I feel like I'm eating a school lunch, not a high-end bagel anymore. I highly recommend fixing the lettuce and answering your phone. I'll give it a month and try again....
Read moreI have been coming regularly to 5th Street for anything from social meetings to studying all day. Each time I come into this establishment I usually spend at least $20. Sure, this place is over priced for what you receive, but I enjoy supporting local joints. As a patron of this local establishment I would feel that I would be treated with more respect and dignity. I was here with a friend today working on homework after buying lunch and was a little distracted by the type of music playing. Mind you, it was not your usual coffee shop music. We politely asked to have the music changed to something different and more mellow. A gentlemen approached us very angrily and hostile in regards to the request. He berated us for such a request and continued to talk about the request to everyone for the next half hour. It was incredibly rude. The person who was so offended by our request usually is working behind the counter and is here on his day off. It is amazing that someone would have the audacity to be so incredibly rude to customers who have a simple question. The way this man approached and tried to approach us was amazing in the lack of simple human respect. You can bet that I will never come back. My friend I brought for her first time here will also...
Read moreI have been coming to 5th street my whole life, but there has been a noticeable shift in the last couple of years. During visit in particular, we were disappointed by the service we received. The bagels were perfectly fine, though the eggs on mine tasted bland and lacking in flavor. There was no cream or milk for the coffee, which is unfortunate as it doesn’t cost much to provide this. The service was the most disappointing. One of the best parts about 5th street is walking in and feeling welcome, like there is a great little bagel place where the community can really get together. That wasn’t anything like our experience today. We were rushed through the line as if we were parts in a factory assembly line, and it was not particularly busy. We were repeatedly asked to repeat our orders, and when we asked for extra veggies, we were told multiple times that this would cost extra and treated as if this was an inconvenience to the employees. I understand that everyone has “off days”, but it would be upsetting to think this is the new normal for a town favorite. Hoping next...
