Gabel's Ice Cream & Fast Food — Restaurant in Pocono Township

My family and I are on vacation and found this gem while going to Friendly's a few feet down the road on Wednesday 8/31/23. We got into friendly's parking lot and looked up Gabel's Ice Cream reviews and instantly turned around and went there. It was a wonderful decision. We ordered three hard icecream Banana Floats, Root Beer Float (which came with a full extra cup of root beer soda) and 2 orders of funnel cakes which are perfectly sized. They are mini's but surely filling. Everything was delicious. Excellent customer service. Price was fair. Plenty of picnic tables seating to eat at which we did utilize and had to finish in car as it got cooler outside with night air. No lines this night as I read prior reviewers. The sign is intriguing and bright to catch the eye so you won't miss it. They have a playground that a family utilized. Plenty of parking all around the place. It is a great spot with terrific hard icecream. We didn't taste the soft serve this trip. We hope to return if we are in the area. Great work Gabel's! Thanks for a wonderful...

Im leaving a 4 star because besides today, the place is a good place. Every business has an off day. Today was the first time we ever stopped here and I have to give it a negative review, which saddens me. I ordered a small black raspberry, I had to throw half of it away, I couldn't eat anymore of it, the freezer burn taste was awful. Small chunks of ice in the ice cream. You should know if it has sat there too long. Also, my husband ordered a strawberry sundae, it was vanilla soft serve ice cream in a cup with what seemed to be some type of a gel topping with frozen then thawed strawberry pieces that looked exactly like cherries. This trip to gables was definately a turn off. We will go back, because its normally very good, but, and he staff is very nice and it seems to be a clean place. Great place if you like paying $8 for 1 large and one small soft serve with sprinkles. The vanilla ice cream had absolutely no taste to it. Outside eating area was dirty and not kept up with. This was their opening week and it was very disappointing. I can only imagine what it will be like by the end of the summer if this is how they're starting out.

EDIT: after writing this review I learned the new owner is the same guy who has Jimmy's Ice Cream in Stroudsburg. That store is far superior to this place. I don't understand. Sorry Paisan!

2ND EDIT: Went back to this establishment on 5/5/19 and was pleasantly surprised. It was immaculate, ice cream was plentiful in portion size and well worth the price.
