Update: June 2022 We had a table by the back door and kitchen area. It is not a great thing to watch people scratching their heads, wiping sweat, dropping towels on the floor and picking them up for reuse, and dropping stuff on the floor and kicking it under the table. We started with calamari - what a mess. It was served in 5 inch long by 1 in by 1/2 in strips. What is that? Is this a giant squid or is this pressed squid blocks chopped up? It was too dense to eat. The server didn't have a clue how the squid was prepared and would not ask. (see picture) Next, I ordered the Louie salad and was assured the shrimp was not in the form of a chicken salad with wet sauce. The salad was okay but the gob of wet over spice shrimp was not good. Finally, the medium cooked hamburger came out well done and not hot. It was a really tough visit for us as we try to visit many places in Port A. We won't be going back any time soon. The service and food quality are not good enough and this must be tolerated top down.

August 2021 SLOW food delivery - Well we didn't have such a good experience. We arrived at the restaurant without reservations and there was a 90 minute wait. I asked if the bar could serve us and they did. I was with my son so we were not consuming alcohol. the bar wasn't packed. The two bar servers were polite and busy with the restaurant drinks. We started with some fried calamari. Wow, they were huge, cooked perfectly, not chewy and very tasty. A sauce was served along with lemon slices. Very nice. And then we waited, and waited, and waited. After 30 minute the bar server said she would check on the meal. She came back and said it was coming. Then we waiting another 20 minutes. Fortunately, my son and I were enjoying the time together and watching some sports on the TV. Finally the meals came. He had fried fish and fries. And that is what came, a brown meal with no color accent. I wanted to order the snapper but that was not available even though it was just around 6pm. I ordered the redfish in soy sauce and blackened. I saw the gent next to us and it was served with green veggies. My meal arrive with rice, fish and corn - two starches. A bland looking plate also. The fish was cooked nicely. Overall, and okay restaurant. Service was good. But the time was terrible. We waited so long, by root beer ice melted to water. Finally, I had four very large scales that I had to spit out, three are shown. It really isn't hard to rinse the fish to check for these. We might go back. Maybe it was...

Having trouble finding a good place to eat in Corpus Christi/ surrounding areas, we decided we would try Trout Street, even though it was pricey.

First and foremost we went in to see how long the wait was, they told us 30-45 minutes and handed us a buzzer, we waited on the patio and several others had went in after us and we’re seated. A nice elderly couple mentioned to the staff that we were there long before them and still had no been seated.

They came out and looked at our buzzer and said we would be seated at the next available table.

10-15 minutes passed and we were seated. After several minutes a very rushed server came to take our drink order. (Water and a Lemonade) the water tasted as if they went to the water outside and filled up a glass. We ordered calamari for an app, it was okay not throughly cooked and was covered in what looked like cornflakes surrounding the entire plate.

We ate our app and sat with an empty lemonade for 15-20 minutes, after I looked at our sever he asked another staff member to bring me a drink.

Shortly after we were able to order our food. We ordered the grilled chicken with mashed potatoes and macaroni, and the Shrimp & Fish.

After nearly 25-30 more minutes the Shrimp & Fish came out cold and saturated in oil (he couldn’t even eat it, it tasted disgusting) at this point the server informs me that my grilled chicken is going to take a few more minutes and that they are out of mashed potatoes, he offered to give me a side salad but didn’t give me the option to pick another side so I said no I didn’t want a salad with my dinner. So nearly 15 minutes later my pathetic grilled chicken piece and Velveta Shells come out, $21 for a $2 chicken breast and a scoop of $2 Velveta was absurd and to not even get a second side option was ridiculous for the price.

For our app, and two “entrees” it was over $70.

Absolutely crazy for frozen fish and boxed macaroni & cheese.

Definitely won’t be back, and definitely should have read the reviews before going in.

The place is a disgrace, and charging someone a ridiculous card service or atm fee should be illegal. You shouldn’t have to read the fine print to order dinner.

Beware,...

Our server was ill-equipped to handle the amount of service required of their tables. Also, for the caliber of restaurant the owners are trying to achieve they need training and a more groomed uniform look to the staff. This restaurant is not supposed to be the same place as the Gaff. Because of the menu prices alone the whole restaurant needs to step up their game. We sat at our table for 10 minutes. And we’re tempted to move to another table that was open and see if anybody noticed that we moved. The restaurant was busy. But no more than a 15 minute wait. The staff was acting like there was a three hour wait outside the door and they were in the weeds deeper than they knew what to do. The fun started with us Ordering a glass of wine and a completely different glass of wine was brought to us. We later found out that they did not have the wine that we ordered so they brought us something different anyway and didn’t tell us that it was different even though we knew it was different because it’s a different color. The bartender took it upon himself to change our order without informing our server of the change. Therefore, we had to inform our server that we were not served what we ordered. This is just the start of the meal. After the wine snafu, we placed our order completely from appetizers to dessert and waited hoping the food would be better than the service has started to be. The crab cake , no lemon wedge, was yummy but they use canned crab meat. The salad arrived and the food runner informed us that it was a salad with no dressing. We politely inform the food runner that we did not order a salad with no dressing and could he please bring us dressing for salad.? The salad was good But how hard is it to make a salad.?? Once the entrée arrived we were excited to try some authentic gulf coast redfish. Instead we paid $35 for cream corn. If you look online at pictures of trout streets red fish dish it will look nothing like the red fish dish that we received. Bottom line don’t go here to...

I travel all over for professional photography and when I'm in a coastal town i always try local seafood favorites. those place was recommended by an airbnb i was staying at. Every seafood place had their "mystery fish" that's not named in certain meals like "fish and chips". most places it is cod or whiting. i asked here and it was Black Drum; not a horrible fish but not highly desired by any means. My wife got this with fries shrimp. i got the blackened snapper. The wife rated the Drum a 5/10 and I'd rate the blackened snapper 5/10 as well. The snapper just lacked any taste, very bland. The fried shrimp that came with her meal was very good. My son got the kids cheese burger and fries not like it at all. If those place had been an average price of about 15-20 per person, i would say this place was a decent choice. But my snapper was $35, the drum and shrimp was $35. In truth, my wife said that she would prefer long John silver's.. not a good endorsement. It's decent, don't get me wrong, just not for what you pay. For the two plates and my son's kids cheese burger it was $87.00. It also did not help that my wife was craving hush puppies and they did not offer them... lastly, the place was very clean, and wait staff while not that attentive, was very nice. If you don't mind spending the money, i can recommend this place but if you are pinching pennies or even just price conscious for what you get for your money, i cannot recommend this place.
