My husband and I have made many trips to Port A and always enjoyed shopping in Port A Outfitters. We have spent a large chuck of change there buying equipment, tackle and clothing. It has always been a good experience so needless to say we were shocked and quite frankly offended the other day on how we were treated while shopping there. I went in to purchase 2 pair of Costa del Mar sunglasses to take back to Austin to have my optician have Costa put my prescription in the lenses. After being there for 15 minutes and trying on frames I was told by the young lady helping me that many of the frames were not RX ready and that I could not get the 580 lens ( I would just get a regular grey lens with my RX). She never asked me what I was trying to accomplish, just manly telling me what I could not do. Then a gentleman came over and stated that they "WE ARE JUST TOO BUSY FOR THIS". Basically we just don't have time to help you find the glasses that you want. I was blown away by his attitude and asked to speak with the owner. WOW! He was the owner, Tom McDonald. I spoke with Costa directly and was pleased to find out that MOST of their glasses are RX ready and that I COULD get the 580 lens in blue mirror with my RX and enjoy the optics that lens offers. I guess the young lady that helped me was NOT as knowledgable as she thought. Thank you Kyle at Cabela's in Buda for your time and expertise. I would rather spend my dollars supporting my home area anyway. I purchased TWO pair of the ladies Tippets (SP?) and some fishing gear and clothing. My point of sharing that? Congratulations Mr. McDonald for being SO BUSY that you don't need a $1000 sale! My dollars will never darken the door of Port A...
Read moreThe reason for my 3 star review is because I had 2 very different experiences at this store. I went in at the start of my weekend to buy a fishing rod. The store is well stocked with fishing essentials. I had a great experience and the gentleman assisting me was polite and very helpful. He got me set up with my rod. I asked him to go ahead and fill the spool with fishing line, which he did. I was a happy customer. The rod was great so I went back to this location a few days later to purchase a 2nd rod. However, my experience with the person helping me was the complete opposite. No customer service at all. I don't think he even cared. He told me I should learn how to tie my own knots, which I already do. But why mention that? I went in to purchase the rod and line. I'm paying for a service. Why tie my own knot? That's why I'm there and I thought that's the reason they have an entire section of the store set-up to spool reels. Just be mindful that if you shop here, it can...
