Alright... At the end of an awesome family vacation in Port Aransas, my family and I decided to stop here for some sweet treats. We'd been looking forward to coming here since we came into Port A days ago. We ordered two #5's (vanilla ice cream, caramel, and coffee shakes) amongst other things and were being served intermittently as the two staff members present decided to instead serve others further back in line. The blonde older lady, who was clearly in charge, was extremely rude to my whole family but eventually got our food and rang us up. While leaving and getting the first taste of my shake, I felt chunks of something on my tongue that tasted like coconut. I hate coconut and my dad, the other person with the #5 is extremely extremely allergic, so I let him know that there might have been a mixup before he got a chance to drink it. He took a sip to test it and thought the same thing. We both went back up to the counter to double check that we didn't misread the board or get our shakes made incorrectly. When asked directly, the younger employee who made the shakes said that they did indeed have coconut in them but then proceeded to clarify that she was thinking of another shake and that our drinks were actually coconut free. Since she sounded so uncertain, we went to the older blonde to make sure that my dad wasn't going to have a flare-up on their behalf. She responded with attitude and said that the texture was just ice and that they don't even serve coconut there while I was STARING at a container of coconut flakes on the counter and a bottle of coconut something or other (water?) with a spout on the top shelf... We left, still unsure of what we were drinking because things were not lining up. While walking back to the car for a second time, the older blonde woman chased us down and said that the shakes actually did have coconut in them. A (white) woman inside who heard us talking and got the same thing as us told the older blonde staff member that there was coconut in hers too- someone had put coconut ice cream in the place of the vanilla ice cream. So we go back inside and my dad says that he wants a refund for both drinks. She only gives us cash back for one drink, thinking that we wouldn't notice, but we asked again and got that taken care of. They asked if we would like our drinks remade and I said yes for both of ours. Instead of remaking our shakes, the blonde woman turned and started helping other people in line again. After waiting for a while longer, she came back over and asked if she could help me. I said that we were still waiting on our shakes to be remade and she nodded her head and made one. She asked again if I needed anything and I said that I was still waiting on the shake to be remade for my dad and re-explained that my dad is very allergic so he would need another too. On the side, a Latina woman was still waiting on her change. It was on the other side of the counter out of her reach next to the cash register and the blonde came over and asked if she could help the woman. She said that she didn't want to reach over the counter by the register and look like she was stealing. The blonde then said, "Well it's YOURS isn't it?!" and handed the change over roughly. She then went to finish making our second shake and apologized because she didn't realize that me and my dad were together (even though he paid for all 5 of us all together) so she didn't know why I needed two shakes and also apologized that she didn't realize we were telling the truth until the third person said the same thing that we did. She said "I've been serving people coconut all day and nobody has said anything." Long story short, if you are a person of color, you will not be treated with respect here- you'll be ignored and served after those in line behind you, talked down to, and blown off and not taken seriously/believed unless a non-person-of-color happens to voice the same question/complaint as you. We were very clearly not welcome here and won't ever be...

Read moreA young employee greeted us and began to take our order. She was kind, but an older employee came out and immediately began to bark at us as well as the other employee. She rushed us into completing our order and acted as though we were wasting her time. Then, after making a few orders for people who ordered AFTER us, they gave us our food. The brownie was decent, but nothing special, and they only serve blue bell rather than homemade ice cream. On our way out, however, my dad tasted his "vanilla" ice cream shake and felt flakes in it. He and my sister both tasted coconut, which my dad is allergic to. My dad asked both employees TWICE EACH to confirm that the ice cream did not have coconut in it, and they brushed him off without even checking, claiming they didn't carry products with coconut in them. As we were walking out, the rude employee ran out after us and said that the ice cream was actually coconut and they'd mistaken it for vanilla. Not only did they not bother to actually check when we asked about it, but they only checked after the next woman to order also tasted coconut and they actually listened to her. So if you have any sort of allergy, I would stay far away. What's more, the ridiculous prices, lack of original product, and horrendous customer service are even more reason to...
