I woke up two hours early for my twelve hour shift just to go to Roadhouse for a bone in ribeye. See this is my fourteenth day in a row working 12 hours on night shift. I said to myself "self you should go enjoy a bone in ribeye from Texas Roadhouse like you saw on TV" SO, to the Roadhouse I went.
Walking in I sat at the bar, because I was by myself and they've got TVs. I sit at the bar so I won't feel so awkward being by myself. (I hate when you walk into a restaurant by yourself and they remind you by saying just one.) The bartender immediately walked up said hi and ask my name. I said Hi I'm Mason, and she said her name was Kayla and welcome to Texas Roadhouse cordially. She ask if I wanted a menu and something to drink. I said yes to the menu and ordered unsweet ice tea. Miss Kayla handed me a menu and went to get me a tea. I opened the menu, looked at the sides closed it almost immediately because I already knew what I wanted .
Miss Kayla brought me a tall glass of tea, I thanked her and said I was ready to order the bone in ribeye,, buttered corn and mixed vegetables. She asked if I would like an appetizer and I said no thanks..Miss Kayla walked away to place my order. I enjoyed my tea for a moment and watched some March madness on the TVs, it was nice,.
Then from the front came the hostess with a Grandmother and two kids under five to sit right behind me in the bar section. I have two grown kids and five grandkids. Taking them out to a restaurant is not a quiet peaceful moment. Why oh why did they sit kids under five in the bar section right behind me the only guy at the bar at that moment when the entire restaurant was almost vacant as they had just opened at four...
So, frustration came out and I said out loud looking at Miss Kayla why are thy seating little kids in the bar section? Miss Kayla informed me very curtly that Texas Roadhouse is a family restaurant. I took a breath and bit my tongue. Then ask her to change my order to go. The Grandmother ask the hostess to move them. I said Ma'am you are just fine, i can handle it. They moved anyway, Grandmother insisted, and said she did not ask to sit in the bar section.
An awkward few minutes past until my order came out. I pulled out my wallet and held out my credit card for a couple minutes. Miss Kayla, finally came and ran it. I tipped $8 and signed. Feeling both disappointed and out of place, time stood still. I heard the man across the way eating with his wife say that I was not wrong. Of course she looked away from him like she was not agreeing. Kayla brought my order, just the plastic to go box, no utensils or such and said thank you patronizingly. So tonight at midnight, on my lunch break I will eat my $29.96 Roadhouse meal like my ancestors, Viking style with my hands, oorah! I did get to park in Veteran Parking, that was a treat, thanks for that!
EDIT~ Midnight lunch for us night shifters. The corn and mixed vegetables were good even cold. I did find a fork in my drawer, but no steak knife. SO that bone was a handle. I ask for seared, Miss Kayla said Pittsburgh, I said yes but burn it..I got unseared, unburned, and chewy fatty medium. No caramelized fat like I have eaten at Roadhouse in Clear Lake and T-Bone Tom's in Kemah. Very disappointed, probably could have gotten better service and food at Cheddars for less than...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered pick up! Ordered at 8:39p.m. Said my order would be ready at 9:07p.m. I arrived at 9:06p.m. the automated pick-up system said it wasn't ready yet, so I waited. At 9:33p.m. I called to ask about my order. I was placed on hold by a lady who said she was going to see what was missing on my order. 2 minutes later, while I was still on hold, my order surprisingly popped up, and when they brought it out, it was ICE COLD, not exaggerating. I even asked the to go associate to touch it herself so she could see I wasn't lying. So I asked her what took so long, and she said because the bread lady didn't make enough bread, so that's what my meal was waiting on, and also they didn't have any cinnamon butter. Uhh, so shouldn't someone call me 30 minutes ago to explain that to me so I can have a choice rather to take off the bread or wait for it? So I asked for a manager to speak with. Mind you, I'm looking around examining to see if anyone else was having a similar experience && I'm noticing other cars that had been sitting just as long as us. They didn't get their order until I called for mine. At 9:45p.m. the same to go associate comes out again to bring another customer their meal and still was no management in sight! I stopped her && asked what was going on she told me "well the manager is getting ready for closing since it's closing time, and we are busy in the dining area!" First of all, I ordered at 8:30, which is almost two hours before closing!! Secondly, shouldn't Togo orders be just as much a priority than the dining area? Idk I worked at a restaurant, and the way the whole situation was handled was outrageous. My husband went inside to just get a refund just for them to tell us they don't know how to refund a gift card š && the GM will be contacting us about the $50 refund! It was 9:55p.m. when we left with cranky, antsy children in the backseat. All that time wasted would've been quicker to just make my own at home. That experience was March 12th it's March 17th, and no one has contacted us yet. I normally don't eat Texas Roadhouse I only order the rolls and go about my way but this night, I was craving steak and didn't feel like going to the grocery store to make my own! Lesson learned now I will NEVER eat here again unless it's rolls!! They have roaches anyways š oohhh I didn't add the good part, the MOD gave my husband a free dinner for two ($30 value) for the inconvenience. That was nice of her, but I won't eat there so I will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI decided to take my family to eat after a movie tonight and had the worst experience ever at a Texas Roadhouse. There should be an an option for zero stars. I ordered 2 bacon cheeseburgers and fries, 1 roadkill no onions with a loaded baked potato, and a half ribs slab appetizer. As my daughter was eating her burger she bit into a hard piece of black plastic similar to a pen top or melted cooking utensil. Neither burger had fries The roadkill was ordered no onions medium well. ( it was rare medium rare at best). Baked potato was not loaded just thrown on the plate with nothing. My son had to go find someone to address the plastic object in the burger that was roughly an inch in size. While I was trying to attend to my daughter. When the manager ( a woman) very dismissive came over she said oh i donāt know what that is and sent our waitress back to address the issue . Our waitress was very apologetic and said the manager was going to make some adjustments and rectify the situation. Which did not happen she simply took off the 2 meals and never came back. The other manger on duty a male simply just walked past our table as the gathered to sing happy birthday to another guest. The blatant disregard for the safety or at most the common courtesy of attending to issues pertaining to foreign objects being found in food is astonishing. I understand it was 9pm and kitchen staff were ready to leave, but people were walking in after us. The issues should have at least been properly addressed by management and rectified promptly. To simply remove items that were unfit for human consumption does in no way rectify the situation. Apparently 9pm is to late to visit this location because all customer service and food handling safety concerns end well before closing. Please do not go to this location and expect anything the slightly resembles...
