The Great Central Steak & Hoagie Company — Restaurant in Port Hueneme

The cheese steaks alone warrant a 5-star for this place. This is the closest in a while that I've had to an as-close-as-possible authentic Philly cheesesteak in Southern California. The only other place in Southern California that was as good was a place in Irvine. The fries were a little greasy but it added to the flavor. Unfortunately they were out of the onion rings when I visited but I am going to try to have some in my next visit.

The staff provided very friendly service. However, there was a mixup of a couple of the orders given to my party of six, but they quickly and graciously remedied the mixup.

It does get very busy during lunch as it is a popular spot for folks stationed at the adjacent Naval Base, and there aren't many seats in the restaurant, but they do offer takeout if you happen to go when it is especially busy.

The food quality alone makes this a must stop if you're a fan of cheesesteaks and you are in the Port Hueneme area. Big...

The sandwiches are great there were two cashiers and one cook it was very quiet we're the only ones there ordering and eating in the cashier's seem like they didn't know we were there after they took our order which was for a Philly cheese steak with onions only and easy easy sauce an additional sandwich and a large onion ring and a large french fry when the sandwiches came I open mine and he had put 3 or 4 scoops of sauce on my sandwich and I had specifically said to her that want easy easy sauce she called him back to the window explain to him that it said easy sauce on the bag he took the sandwich from her he opened it up and looked at it made a face that I can see like what is wrong! package it back up I believe he threw it away and start to make me...

Same as many of the reviews I saw. This place us super expensive for the quality of the food. Got the cheese steak hoagie and was super bland zero flavor. Their home made sauce is gross. The worst part is the amount of supposed steak you get. Might as well call it a veggie hoagie because I felt like all I bit into was veggies. Not impressed and will not be coming back. Also, to top it off the cook had no gloves grabbed the steak with bear hands and veggies. Then wiped on a rag that who knows how many times he cleaned his hands in before that.
