Look. I'm seeing these reviews and just don't understand them...and I'm sure my wife and I ate at the same establishment.
I was excited to have a new diner in our area...when we ate at City diner in Stuart last Christmas I spoke with someone in charge that morning to compliment them on the entire experience, vibe, food... everything. Was told they were opening a "sister" location in PSL around Feb. Couldn't wait...so we went for breakfast around 10am two days ago and were very disappointed. There were only 2 other people inside eating...pretty strange I thought. But the avalanche that followed - (1) sat down & given a menu and told to come back to the counter to order.. (2) had to order my coffee at the counter (small or large) in A PAPER CUP...(3) were given plastic utensils.. (4) toast served but no butter on it... asked for butter and was given the small square plastic servings to cold to spread even 10 minutes later...(5) Small home fries potato cubes either air fried or deep fried...not sure......
After ordering same egg meal at City Diner, I expected the same table service...a polite server, "real" grilled cut up potatoes, coffee in a GLASS cup...metal utensils, not plastic, and toast at least partially buttered.
I'm trying to get constructive here...Remeys looks fantastic inside, clean restroom, and all the employees were friendly....but it's supposed to be a DINER...we felt like we were in a self serve fast food establishment like, Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King or even Chick-fil-A. I grew up in NY as did Benny...went to countless diners all over the state & Northeast...I know how a diner should be and feel, what service to expect...and just was very let down Wed. I so badly want Remeys to succeed...but at this time it is not a diner in the true sense...
Read moreThe restaurant is very clean, all brand new seating. It was a bit confusing how to order. I have read in numerous reviews that you have to order at the counter, a sign above a register indicates you order at the counter, a computer at the counter gives an option to order at the counter. After reading over the billboard menu, we step to the counter and we are asked if we were dining in or Togo, we were dining in so we were directed to sit at any table and our order would be taken at the table. We got a cup of coffee, they didn’t have a good variety of sweeteners (no big deal, moved on from that). My omelet was good, the pillsbury premade biscuit was good, the best part was that it was grilled and buttered. Home fries were good. The other meal was a different story. Fried eggs were perfectly cooked. The premade frozen waffle was way over cooked, bacon was cold. We searched for a few minutes for our server, she disappeared so a cook came from the kitchen to ask what we needed. They replaced the waffle but the fact it is a frozen product was disappointing. We had to ask a second time for hot bacon which was alright at best. Not once did we get offered a coffee refill, so it was $2.99 for a single small coffee. The place is beautiful inside and could definitely be a cool spot but needs some customer service work. Also, it is so inexpensive to make fresh waffles and biscuits it would be great to smell a waffle cooking while waiting for...
Read moreOn a hot morning, came around the corner of the building to the cool shade. Looking for a way in. Lots of doors and writing all over them, another customer said "over here" and we found the entrance! Expected to sit down but no, stand in line to order. Suggested tip 25% for service yet to receive. The woman who found the entrance hissed about the tip when I told her I hoped she didn't pay the 25%. We ordered, and promptly received someone else's food. No, not ours. Got some very weak coffee which I had to get myself while I waited for our food to arrive. And waited. After a while, we got a pretty good lox bagel, and a waffle sandwich that wilted on the bottom due to the heat of the eggs and sausage. Still, tasty with powdered sugar complementing the salty. The woman returned and whispered, "I couldn't eat mine". Oh boy. The decor tried to be retro with New York scenery, but the restaurant felt stark, not many customers. On the way out, my wife and I saw a poor lost dog. "Hmmm", I thought. "A lot like the...
