I visited on 05/26/2024 after my shift ended on a co-worker’s recommendation for tasty food. I decided to sit at the bar and order carryout. The host staff was friendly and inviting, however the bartender Scotty was the polar opposite. He was actually rude, and I found his attitude to be offensive! I was never greeted when I sat at the bar instead I was made to feel that I was unwelcomed as he proceeded to ignore me for several minutes as the bar was not extremely busy (which would still be no excuse for the lack of professionalism) when he did acknowledge me again there was not greeting instead I was asked “was there something I needed?” which, in my opinion, would have been obvious considering I was sitting at the bar. I proceeded to place my order for a drink that was one of the specials and advised that I would be ordering a carryout. He responded by slamming things around as he made my drink and then went to ask the host does, he “have” to take my order? To which I was flabbergasted as to why that would be a question considering I was sitting at the bar and that was his station. As law enforcement I get having a difficult day, but that does not excuse from exuding professionalism to which our employers compensate us for and expect. Not to mention it was the day before Veterans Day and as a Vet I felt some type of way as to my treatment when I did in fact sign the blank check for the freedoms so many take for granted! Not sure what the issue was with this guy but upon conversing with a couple that sat at the bar prior to their table being ready (who were greeted by the bartender) it led me to believe that his issue was motivated by his personal views and biases. On to the food and the waiter that took my order. The food (a full rack of baby back ribs) was phenomenal, and the waiter was professional as was the host to whom I shared my experience with. Will I embark upon this establishment again, that remains to be decided as I am not a fan of spending my hard-earned money where I am greeted with non-professionals to put it nicely. As a result of this experience, I am not inclined to recommend this establishment to people that...
Read moreMy daughter and I spent the day hiking At mirror Lake State Park. We knew we were going to stop and eat somewhere on the way home and we were craving steak and seafood. We wanted to avoid the crowds in Wisconsin Dells so we decided we would find something on the way home even if it meant we had to settle for chicken strips ;) My daughter punched restaurants in the GPS and up came Suzys in Portage, Wi just 11 miles away!!! We were super excited and had our fingers crossed it wasn’t a complete dive. It was anything but a dive. It was absolutely delicious! My daughter had the prime rib with Alaskan King crab legs.( We were on a girls day out so we were splurging) I had the prime rib with lobster tail 😋 First our dinners came with soup ,salad, warm buttery bread, veggie tray with breadsticks and vegetable dip. I had the pepper jack creamy potato soup. It was definitely homemade an absolutely phenomenal! The main course was more than we could’ve asked for ! Perfectly done and seasoned to perfection. Mouthwatering greatness! We even had a pleasant surprise of Suzy herself being our hostess and agreeing to take a photo with my 12-year-old daughter (who mind you ate everything .... including her bake potato) 😛😮 By the way she is a picky eater. The price was right, the setting was warm and inviting. We are looking forward to another visit soon! Thank you Suzy’s For a phenomenal ending to our mom /daughter...
Read moreWe’ve driven by this restaurant over fifty times over the past 14 months and never had the opportunity to stop and give it a try. I’m sure Covid had something to do with their “Help Wanted - All Positions” sign at the front door but it sure didn’t effect a darn thing. My sister had been their two years prior and said all she remembered was that it was delicious. They sure didn’t disappoint. It was a Saturday about 7 PM, they were at about half capacity if that. I had an Old Fashioned and Shrimp Alfredo (included a perfect side salad, seafood spread with fresh veggies and cracker sticks and dinner rolls which consisted of a soft garlic bread stick, a perfect wheat roll and a pretzel roll - all of which were warm), and the hubby got the Petite Prime rib (perfectly done medium well) with baked potato. Everything was truly delicious and worth the price point that we don’t usually frequent so I’m grateful it was worth every penny. The wonderful waitress Jasmine kept apologizing for the wait for this and that. It was nothing out of the ordinary however and I told her no need to keep apologizing and that she was doing a great job. (Especially with the help wanted sign on the door) - I grew up in the business - good help is INDEED hard to find. Thanks for a wonderful evening Suzy’s - nicely done. P.S. Beautiful woodsy...
