The only reason I am giving this restaurant two stars is because my daughter's food was ok and our server was nice. (Although your biscuits are like bricks.) I had the Santa Fe sandwich and it was SUCH garbage. The melted Jack cheese was a sprinkling of shredded cheese that only encompassed about 1/10th of the area on the bread. This is a grilled sandwich that should have melted cheese. The portion was so small you could barely even find it, much less judge if it had been melted. The amount of green chili covered about half the area of the bread. The worst part? The overcooked bland tri tip was so scant on there, that I ended up piecing this dry, dull mess together on one half of the bread. So a half a mediocre sandwich for $16.99. The cheese should be plentiful enough that it adds the moisture that a sandwich without any spread, NEEDS. I felt bad for our server. I heard her trying to get the attention of the cook. Loudly. I tried to let her know, my issues with the sandwich were absolutely not about her. Her cooks or the management or the owners are letting her down. Sending her out with an embarrassingly inferior product. She tried to make it right, but the first impression was such that I did NOT want to risk another sandwich, likely made with a bad attitude and a ridiculous and petty overabundance of cheese. I know how these things work in smaller establishments.
I worked in restaurants for YEARS. I would never have served something this...
Read moreAs a breakfast spot, the cafe is decent. The service is quick, and my food came out hot and faster than I expected. I had the breakfast sandwich with hash browns and it was good. The ham didn't taste very fresh, but the buttery bread and fresh cheese made up for that. I added my hash browns to the sandwich for added flavor. The one thing that always hangs me up about Generals Cafe is how expensive it can be. I only got the breakfast sandwich and a soda and it cost me $20. The sodas are already expensive at around $3.59, but when I was offered cherries and cherry juice (the juice that the cherries come in) to make a cherry Pepsi, I wasn't informed that would be an additional charge and take the cost of my soda from $3.59 to $4.49. This place is a decent step up from Denny's, but if you're looking for cheap, I'd...
Read moreI was very disappointed with my resent visit to this restaurant. We were seated promptly in the outdoor patio and order was taken fairly quickly but that's was the last of the good service. We sat and watched larger groups that came after us served and when our food did arrive it was cold. I ordered waffles and eggs done hard and the waffles were so cold that it wouldn't melt the butter and when I cut in to the eggs, the whites were running out. Then when we mentioned the issue to the server, we just got a look and a half of an apology. Then when we paid for the uneaten meals we asked for the senior discount that was offered on the menu and told they had added it already but adding the menu items ordered, it was more than we should have been charged. Won't...
