Had a coffee and conversation here a few days ago with friends. First the coffee was great, but more than that this place is really interesting. The floor is covered in pennies of various shades that make patterns. We were told that you could see them better through the lens of your phone camera and that appears to be true. In the back there is a bike shop. The not-so-secret to Braking Cycles is that it helps fund a nonprofit that helps youth get off the street and into housing. What an excellent way to spend a few bucks on coffee.

Eric (bicycle shop owner?) was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable when I stopped by for the first time today! I needed grips on my old college single speed, and he took the time to give the bike a good look over, lube the chain, and give me some useful care tips. The type of old-school, honest and friendly service that’s rare to find. You’ve got a customer for life!

Just stopped in because I've seen it by the road. Never knew it was so much more than a coffee shop, it's also a responsible way to give back to the community. Also super comfortable to hang out and use the WiFi. Ask about the penny floors, it's got a story! Not to mention the chai is great!

What friendly & helpful people! They took care of my bike issue right away after I walked in without an appointment. Charged me a fair price for the work. And, they have a really cool mission of helping transition youth in challenging situations by teaching them bike mechanic skills. They also take donations of used bikes and fix them up for resale to support their cause. I...
