My wife and I are both long time vegetarians and lovers of Indian cuisine; as such we are constantly on the lookout for excellent Indian restaurants in the Portland area. For the past many months, we have traveled up to Welches to the Naan and Curry restaurant there, but once their front of house guy, Deep, moved to this new restaurant, we followed him to see what his new place was like. Wow; what a find! The flavors just burst delightfully onto the palate and the presentations are first rate. I recommend all the vegetarian dishes, the naan breads are fresh and chewy, and the chutneys are all excellent. The tamarind sauce is better than any similar sauce I have ever tasted. They serve thalis which not all Indian restaurants do which is perfect when one doesn't want all that much to eat. The only item I think might be improved upon is the masala chai tea which is actually better than most to be found in the city but it could be improved upon. The spices could be fuller and fresher and the milk seems a mite thin. Otherwise and all in all, this is a very special restaurant offering a wealth of Indian dishes all wonderfully prepared by Rahul,...

Last night, my best friend Caroline and I had the pleasure of dining at Haveli, an Indian restaurant in Portland that truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped in, the warm ambiance and inviting aromas set the tone for a fantastic meal.

We decided to sample a variety of dishes and were blown away by the flavors. The samosa chaat was the perfect start—crispy, tangy, and bursting with spices. Next came the paneer curry paired with fragrant basmati rice, which was rich, creamy, and comforting. The standout, however, was the tandoori chicken—juicy, tender, and seasoned to perfection. Every bite was an explosion of authentic Indian flavors.

Our experience was made even more special by our server, Deep, who went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable evening. His attentiveness and kindness were unmatched, and as a delightful surprise, he brought us a complimentary carrot dessert to end our meal. It was a perfect sweet note to close out the evening.

Haveli is a gem that I highly recommend for anyone craving high-quality Indian cuisine with exceptional service. We left with full bellies, happy hearts, and plans to...

Haveli moved into the Nob Hill neighborhood as a new Indian restaurant and I am so happy they joined the neighborhood! I got the chicken tiki masala and it was one of the best renditions of the dish I've had. The chicken was cooked perfectly, blending with the sauce and the rice to create an amazing dish. Alongside that, I got the garlic naan which was also delicious.

The only thing I would recommend Haveli improve is their pick-up ordering. I ordered my food for pickup, which supposedly had a 30 minute lead time. When my pickup time was close, I walked to the restaurant to get my food and I was sad to see it was made way before the "Ready-By" time they gave online. My naan bread was stone cold and soggy, and my food had obviously lost some heat.

I recommend that they notify customers when their pickup orders are ready, or give a better estimated time when it will be ready. It sucked to have some cold parts to my dinner but it was still delicious.

I highly recommend a visit here, I will be...

During my visit to Haveli, I ordered a bunch of Indian classics, including karahi, mango chutney, and aloo paratha. Between the three, I honestly can't pick which one I liked the best. The aloo paratha was an especially interesting experience for me, as I'd never had this stuffed flatbread before. The potatoes and onions it contained added an explosion of flavor with every bite. The mango chutney was unlike anything I'd ever eaten before, but in the best way possible. Every bite was akin to eating the nectar of the gods themselves. However, it was the lamb karahi that truly sent me to culinary heaven. Each bite was better than the last. I truly didn't want the experience to end. I left the restaurant feeling full, happy, and eager to return. Haveli is certainly one of the top three Indian restaurants in Portland and one of the best restaurants in the city in general! Go visit as soon as you can.

Spacious and comfortable restaurant with a warm, welcoming staff. The food was excellent—flavorful and well-prepared. The Mango Lassi stood out as one of the best I’ve had anywhere! Portion sizes were generous, and I appreciated the server asking about any customizations upfront. The Masala Tea was also really good—much better than the typical prepackaged or overlooked versions you get elsewhere. The only small downside was the naan, which was a bit thick and slightly undercooked in the center, but that can easily be fixed if requested. Overall, a great dining experience. Definitely recommend this place!

Tried this spot in NW 23rd. A cozy location, probably seats around 40 people Tried the Mango Tikka sauce gravy with Veggies and Paneer. Medium Spice was still hit the pallet. So if one is less tolerant to spice choose the mild option. Flavorful curry. The Naan was soft and cheesy. Nice ambiance. Felt like one was at their home kitchen. As you eat one is busy emptying the dishes. The cling clang sound of the dishes, the loud music and the high pitched chatter of the folk working was entertaining. Felt like a honey kitchen.
