What a wonderful spot. Especially for someone with limited mobility. I'm five weeks away from total knee replacement surgery and Slabtown Village couldn't have been more perfect. No hotel lobby or long hallways to negotiate, only two steps up from the sidewalk level, easy electronic lock access, and free nearby street parking, plus the option to sleep on a very comfortable couch instead of climbing the stairs to the loft made for a wonderful accommodation. Loved having everything at arms length: fridge, microwave, sink, dishes, utensils, coffee pot, kettle, toaster, extra linens, and space in the closet for my carry-on. Plus the special amenities (variety of teas, coffee beans/grinder and the Portland chocolate bar!) were a lovely surprise. Light meals, midnight snacks, wi-fi, TV, Netflix, hot showers, fluffy towels, shampoo/conditioner, iron/ironing board...it was all just fantastic! Honestly, The Vera House had nearly everything imaginable--even a huge umbrella in the event of rain! Plus, the location in NW Portland was close to shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and public transportation; and the neighborhood was quiet and felt really safe. A special shout-out to John, one of the owners, who went above and beyond by helping with last-minute, late-night telephone registration and providing directions from the airport. I'd absolutely stay at Slabtown Village again. It was cozy, comfortable, and welcoming; and for me, truly became a 'home...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing experience this last trip to Portland that took place back in the first week of November. You can not beat the price, laid back atmosphere and location that is associated with Slabtown Village. The tiny homes are quaint perfection at its best. My sweet and deer girlfriend and I stayed in the "lovejoy" unit which is one of the larger units and it was extremely clean and well laid out, it is the perfect amount of space for two people in love and afforded us luxury and just the rite amount of romance and relaxation. The facility feels very secure with keycoded locks and a high gate that surrounds the tiny home area. We honestly did not want to leave and it made me think of what is really important in life as I was very content in a comparatively small space to that of my own home. It was more than just a night in a room it was an experience for life. I would recommend this to all my friends and plan to stay there every time I am...
Read moreStayed at Slabtown Village in the Vera home on New Year's Eve and we had the best time! We were informed that all of the units were reserved, but we didn't hear a peep from anyone all night! We enjoyed the decorative touches throughout the unit, the EXTREMELY comfortable bed, and welcome book that gave us wonderful ideas on where to explore, eat, drink, etc., all within a 10 minute walk from the home. The shower had excellent water pressure and the complimentary coffee beans sure made the morning a little more manageable (it was New Year's Day & we were both not feeling 100%). There was surprisingly a great deal of storage underneath the stairs and the mini refrigerator was much larger than I thought it would be. I think our favorite part was watching the neighboring apartment complex light off fireworks from their roof, which we were able to watch from our skylight in the tiny home. It was such a special night and we will...
