This is my new favorite wine bar in Portland, and that’s a high bar! Have recommended it to multiple people. Love their French focused wine selection, Joel is incredibly knowledgeable and will make sure you find a wine to match your taste, and it would be my favorite even if they didn’t have an amazing chef, but the food takes it to another level. The menu is always changing, and make sure you ask if they have any specials. The young yellowtail is a must get, and had their chicken fried rabbit was incredible with a sauce that was full of flavor and umami. This was my second time back, and will be back many more times!

A fellow wine industry friend recommended Heavenly Creatures to us during our visit to Portland and we couldn’t be more pleased. The vibes were chill, romantic, and cozy. The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the wines, and the service was quick but not rushed. We got the yellowtail toast and the camembert with potato chips. I preferred the camembert - the creaminess and slight sweetness of the cheese paired perfectly with the crunch and saltiness of the chip - while my boyfriend preferred the toast. We paired our bites with an Oregonian Gamay and a French Syrah. Delicious, and can’t wait to come back!

After 20 years of dining in Portland, heavily creatures was simply spectacular. Even in the backdrop of so many great restaurants in town. Their apparent goal is to offer a few but amazingly delicious food that accompanies beautifully with wine. Most places have Wines by the glass throw away options. Not here. Pro tip: order what looks good to you on the food menu and then just ask the staff, ideally the sommelier, what goes absolutely best with that particular food. The absolutely best wine experience I’ve had in town. (The resiling was epic)

BOOK YOUR NEXT PARTY AT HEAVENLY!

I recently hosted my birthday party at Heavenly Creatures (we booked the lobby), and I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience! From start to finish, everything was flawless.

The food was absolutely phenomenal— we did tray passed apps and every dish was beautifully presented and incredibly delicious. The variety and quality left all of my guests raving about each dish. And the wine...THE WINE! Joel was so accommodating, meeting with me ahead of time to curate the perfect palette for the evening.

The atmosphere was equally impressive, with a warm and inviting vibe that made the celebration feel extra special. The decor and ambiance were spot on, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening. Sending a special thank you to Jena for her extra care and attention to every detail of the space.

What truly set this experience apart, though, was the service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless. They were attentive, friendly, and incredibly accommodating, making us feel like VIPs all night long. Shout out to Felipe for being everywhere all at once - not a glass went empty the entire night!

Thank you, Heavenly Creatures, for helping make my birthday so memorable. I highly recommend HC for any special occasion or even just a night out—it's...

Although I can appreciate that this wine bar is serving rare wines by the glass, therefore costing more than wines usually served by the glass at other bars, I doubt that this can be sustained in the long run. Special occasions, yes. Wine bar enthusiasts such as my partner and myself, no. The $25 glasses we had at our first (and last) visit there were absolutely not better than the $12-15 French wines we’ve had at several area wine bars. The reds were so pricey, and I noticed that the patrons around us were all consuming white. Why not add a couple of less expensive reds to your menu? And your space is very cozy and attractive, but the tapered candles were just a fire waiting to happen; Between the dried flowers surrounding them and very long hair of female patrons, it looked very hazardous. We live in the neighborhood, so it’s a treat to be able to walk, but no one I know can afford...

I get it, maybe people don’t move along and you can’t clear a table so the time you predicted was wrong. Maybe communicate that to the guest when you told them 30-45 min and they’ve been waiting an hour and 20 min? Also, a comped glass of wine or bread goes a long way. And don’t make them have to track you down after 20 min for wine while waiting when that was offered. To be fair, when I paid for my wine, they offered a gift card, but what about that experience makes me want to come back? When I shared my feedback with the server, he was unapologetic. I’m having a hard time thinking when I was less impressed with service, and I’ve worked in the service industry. Hopefully they’ll get...
