PORTLAND, Ore. - In a city celebrated for its culinary creativity, The Twisted Croissant stands out as a destination where pastry artistry meets unapologetic indulgence. This charming bakery, tucked away in Portland's vibrant food scene, elevates classic French techniques with playful, Northwestern-inspired twists. The result? A lineup of pastries and desserts so irresistible, they're worth crossing city lines for.
The star of the show-and rightly so-is the Raspberry Rose Cruffin, a marvel of engineering and flavor. Part croissant, part muffin, this delicate swirl of laminated dough is filled with a lush raspberry-rose pastry cream that strikes the perfect balance between floral elegance and tangy brightness. Each bite shatters into buttery layers before melting into a silky, fragrant finish. It's the kind of pastry that makes you pause mid-bite just to savor the moment.
Equally compelling is the Chocolate Cherry Pain Suisse, a decadent riff on the traditional Swiss pastry. Flaky, golden dough encases a rich chocolate custard studded with tart cherries, their acidity cutting through the sweetness with precision. The exterior glistens with a glossy glaze, hinting at the pleasure within—a masterclass in texture and harmony.
For those with a deeper chocolate craving, the chocolate mousse dessert is a non-negotiable indulgence. Light yet luxuriously dense, the mousse is crowned with a glossy ganache and perched atop a whisper-thin cocoa crust. It's the kind of dessert that feels both refined and deeply comforting-a testament to the bakery's ability to balance sophistication with soul.
And then there's the raspberry cheesecake, a creamy, dreamy revelation. The velvety filling, brightened by swirls of raspberry purée, sits atop a buttery graham cracker base, offering just the right amount of crunch. It's a refreshing departure from cloyingly sweet renditions, letting the fruit's natural tartness shine.
The Twisted Croissant doesn't just bake pastries-it crafts experiences. Every item is a testament to the care and imagination poured into it, making this Portland gem a must-visit for pastry lovers. Whether you're a local or just passing through, one bite will have you plotting your...
Read moreWas so excited to try after seeing all the hype on Instagram, getting excited about their menu, too. But entered the store and was confused as the only menu was for coffee and there were just 2 or 3 individual cheesecakes in the case.
Stood around for several minutes, but the employee in the store was too hyper focused on sweeping to acknowledge us standing in line just 5 ft away. Restaurant claims worker "welcomed us in" but that literally never happened. 5 minutes of standing there while being blatantly ignored is 4 mins too long. Perhaps the emoloyee is confused about who he spoke with because he acknowledged another customer entering to bring in his empty coffee cup as we were leaving. There were flies in the case with cheesecakes also - tge restaurant claims the case is sealed, but obviously it wasnt, since a fly was in it..... Left without ordering, won't be back. Especially after the Restaurant management responded to try and make it look like we were in the wrong for being ignored and that we were lying about flies getting into the case - after reading the other reviews, it's apparent that flies in the case are a pretty common occurrence. Owner response is rude and unhelpful and did 0 to address the actual issues I mentioned in my review. Guess I should have taken pictures of the flies like the other girl has in her review so that he'd believe me! Would have had ample time while employees were busy...
Read moreHello, I was surprised to find out that Sol is no longer working at the Twisted location in Slabtown. She was the best person there. She was always very friendly and helpful. She took care of customers and ensured everything was clean and efficient. Tristan in the afternoon also good guy!
Most of the other folks there are not friendly and not helpful. When the MANAGER/OWNER is there, he talks endlessly about coffee, brewing temperature, and how he owns the place… it is extremely condescending! Maybe a better Manager that treats their employees like people . It is a pasty shop first and foremost. I come to this location for the pastries but the people other than Sol are such a turn off. Without Sol, this location has no customer service. It might as well be a self-serve location where you order from a robot.
I come to this location several times a week when Sol is working because I know the customer service will be excellent. Without her, I will definitely cut down my visits.Shame bc I know this people since they will to sell at Orenco...
