I'd imagine it would be wonderful if the bagels were really fresh....
I went on a Friday around 0800. I ordered a bagel sandwhich (which had greens, bacon, jam, and cream cheese) on a sesame bagel. It was wonderful! They didn't skimo on any of the ingredients, and the bagel was crispy and chewy.
However, I also ordered an Everything bagel. I figured that an everything bagel is a good marker on how good a bagel place really is. It combines the technique of bagel making with the freshness (everything bagels have a lot of salt as a topping, which makes bagels shriveled and dry if they aren't fresh).
Well...at 0800 it was clear the bagel was not made that day. maybe not even the day before.... It was awful. shriveled exterior, with no chee, a dry interior that lacked a pliable pull that makes a great bagel. additionally,it was noticably room temperature/cold. I've literally had better everything bagels from the grocery isle. really, really disappointing.
Find out when the bagels are fresh and I'm sure it's a different experience, but considering I showed up on a weekday right during opening, im not sure when you should go... really confusing
if you get a bagel here, at least make sure it's super fresh, or have them heat it for you, otherwise... Skip!
p.s. they use a card swipe to pay, and Don't let you interact with the machine....so they outright ask you how much you want to tip them, which is a...
Read moreI ordered a catering order for an office work event. I ordered 3 baker's dozen bagels. I needed enough for 30 people. I was told that the amount of coffee in one of their coffee boxes (for large orders) would be enough for 30 people. I thought this was great! I was then told the order would be ready by 8am sharp. When I arrived, the coffee was still being made (no big deal). But when they put the box on the counter and I saw the size... I was told it only served 12 and that I had been misinformed. They remedied this by getting me another box asap, which was nice.
But then, I got to the office and realized they had just thrown all the bagels into a paper bag. There were no napkins, no plastic utensils, no plates, and nothing we could use to serve anything. This was supposed to be a catering order...normally when ordering from any establishment, they at least give you napkins. I thought if they usually do large catering orders, they would be experienced, but the person I spoke to on the phone seemed completely clueless about every question I asked, so I guess I should have known better. Needless to say, I will not be going back for any catering/ event needs. The bagels and schmeer are great, I just think they need to have someone who knows about the catering/ large order process, taking the orders. And if they don't know the answers to questions, ask someone who does before...
Read moreGood things: service , the atmosphere was fine, and the way things sounded on the menu . Bad things: the food and drinks. Maybe it was an off day, and I think a lot of my issues could be fixed easily, but man, my experience today was rough. The blueberry muffin we got had to be ripped apart so that I wouldn’t get any of the paper lining glued to the surface in my mouth, and the parts of the muffin that were edible were dry and tough anyways. I honestly don’t think I’ve had a worse muffin before. The bagel sandwich I got , “the hipster” was like 50% sprouts and balsamic glaze, and the avocado mash wasn’t salted, so It was kinda like eating wet sprouts with some other textures occasionally in the bite. And the hazelnut latte I got kinda tasted like free hotel coffee that was too watered down with some hazelnut delight creamer in there. Also there was this neon yellow powder smudged by the lid that could’ve been pollen ? I left pretty unsatisfied but if you’re in a rush and do not have the time to make the same quality of food at home, this’ll do. My thoughts are that this place could really benefit from some recipe adjustments. The quality of the bagels was fine, as was the shmear for the most part, and maybe sticking to what you’re good at would make this...
