We stopped here for brunch... As I paid it felt as if I was paying for the services of a FERTILITY CLINIC, I'VE NEVER PAID SO MUCH FOR EGGS IN MY LIFE!
The parking lot was not full but we were told there was a 10 minute wait. We were then informed that we could not wait in the restaurant but "had to return to our car." That seemed rather excessive especially because the mask restrictions had completely been lifted.
We went to the car which we had parked out back. We had no longer gotten into the car when the text came in saying our table was ready. It was a great surprise but wasted our time walking back and forth.
Once we got back inside, there was no one there to seat us... so we waited.
We were seated right by the door, a booth that was vacant when we came in the first time.
It took some time for the waitress to come by and greet us. That was ok because we were still deciding. She came back and we still hadn't decided so we asked for a few more minutes. We decided an waited another 10 minutes before going to the register and asking them to please let our waitress know that we were ready. It was another 5-10 minutes before she came back.
She was friendly and polite.
We ordered 3 meals. 1 burger (nothing on it except ketchup) and fries, an omelet, and a waffle combo.
The food came fairly quickly.
There was a problem with the burger, evidently it was ordered incorrectly and it had cheese on it so they re-made it which did take too long.
Everything else was cooked to perfection and tasted great! The burger once correctly made was also good.
The waitress never came back once to check on us. Once we finished she never came by to give us our bill. I wound up just going up to the register to pay.
When I paid , I felt like I had just had an appointment at a fertility clinic. The total was $46 for 3 people with tip. I've never paid that much for eggs in my life... thus the feeling of the fertility clinic.
The food was good, the price for what we got was in my opinion, way out of line for the service we got.... it would have been over priced even if we had gotten great service which wasn't provided.
I would find it difficult to recommend this place, though the...
Read moreIHOP has a long history of serving delicious breakfast options 24 hours a day. You can't go wrong with this family favorite.
This review is specifically about IHOP on 82nd Ave. in Portland, OR.
MY EXPERIENCE:
My group of 3 arrived early (8am) morning on Mothers Day this year, and though we had thought we'd beat the anticipated crowd, we were wrong. The place was packed, with people lining up out the door!
We ended up waiting for about 30 minutes but I told jokes to help make the time pass quicker. I was pleasantly surprised to see the management's unique way of dealing with the chaos. They gave each party a codename based on fictional characters like tinkerbell, braveheart, tigger, etc. We thought that it was a very creative, compassionate, and fun way to deal with the huge holiday crowd. Perhaps this is how Patch Adams would handle things if he were in charge? :0)
We frequently eat at this location close to Wal-Mart and Century 16 theater on 82nd in Portland. Eric, the manager has always been super nice to us, answered all our questions, and generally made us feel welcomed and appreciated.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Bananas foster French toast Breakfast crepes Peach crepes
SUGGESTIONS:
The food has always been delicious, and the service has been great. And the place has been overall comfortable. However, there are some areas in disrepair including damaged cabinet doors behind the counter, mis-aligned air vents, and broken bathroom stalls to name a few.
Honestly if the service and food weren't great we wouldn't come to this IHOP location anymore. If anyone from corporate is reading this, Eric is doing a great job as manager. Please help him grow this location by funding the necessary repairs.
CONCLUSION:
If you can overlook the damage to the interior, you will not be disappointed by the delicious food and excellent service. Be sure to say hi to Eric when...
Read moreWent to this IHOP with great expectations according to previous reviews. First our waiter, Jose, took our order and then asked us if we were paying with cash or card. No one else was asked this question and after we answered him with "card" he replied "ok I am just going to talk to my manager first" and left. Fealt we were being judged and singled out for some unknown reason. When he finally came back with food my friend Michael and I didnt get all our food. My food came out finally but Mikes never did and Jose was again only concerned about payment when he asked if we were paying together or separate! After waiting several more minutes, I finally went to front counter and said why were Michaels eggs not there cause his pancakes were almost cold waiting. When we got our eggs we were disappointed as Michael asked for Sunnyside up and they were over medium with hardly no runny yolk and I asked for over medium and I had over easy with runny yolk that I did not want. After we were done eating, Jose came to our table with the tablet for card payment and Mike didn't understand what the tip screen was about cause he left a cash tip. Jose asked him how much was the cash tip as he had to put it on the bill. I spoke up and asked him for the tablet as Jose told Mike to bring someone with him next time that could deal with the bill next time. I selected "no tip" and had Mike sign. It seemed that either Jose was trying to double his tip or he doesn't know how to work it either. Not any other table was asked any questions about payment at anytime and the female waitress was very good with her tables. I will never go back as the whole experience made our meal unappetizing and was...
