Jake's Place is a cornerstone of our community, and my recent experience there only reinforced how special it is. This review isn't just about the great drinks, friendly staff, and lively atmosphere—it's about standing up for the values of kindness, respect, and remembrance.
A few nights ago, a heartfelt tribute unfolded across the street. A gentleman was lighting fireworks in honor of Kathryn, a remarkable woman who had recently passed. It was a beautiful and touching moment, one that symbolized how much Kathryn meant to so many people. Unfortunately, not everyone saw it that way.
A nearby resident aggressively confronted this man, taking offense to the fireworks and escalating the situation unnecessarily. To make matters worse, they wrongfully reported him to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission, claiming he was affiliated with Jake's Place. This led to an unwarranted ban for him from this beloved establishment—a decision that feels completely unjustified.
To me, Jake's Place is more than just a bar. It's a gathering spot where people come together to celebrate, grieve, and support one another. The actions of one person shouldn’t overshadow the spirit of this place or the good intentions of those who choose to remember loved ones in meaningful ways.
I stand with the man who was unfairly 86 for life. Let’s keep this establishment the warm, welcoming, and understanding environment it has always been. Kathryn deserved to be honored, and Jake's Place should remains a place that holds space for moments like these.and the complaint of one persons who is not even a customer should not have had a long time good paying customer kicked out, not saying there shouldn't have been any action taken but kick out is...
Read moreI visited Jakes last week after just moving to the neighborhood. The bartender, Cassie, was very rude and ignored me while I waited for over ten minutes to just order a beer. Then I heard the same bartender, Cassie, arguing with another woman, very loudly, about how they hadn't gotten all of the cocaine they had purchased. I'm sure this conversation was heard not only by the patrons inside the bar, but those outside smoking at the picnic tables. I found out shortly after that, that Cassie the bartender, was arguing with her own mother about this drug situation. I will not be returning to this bar nor will I encourage my friends and family to go there either. I will not subject them to rude service, a bar that apparently has open policies regarding drug use and conversations about drug use, and potentially violent behavior. This is definitely not a friendly neighborhood bar if you...
Read moreI really want to like this bar, but I just cant. The bartender i think someone said her name is Debbie (maybe it was Brandy) is the most RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, and SLOPPY excuse for a bartender. Not sure what she is doing working in customer service. She curses at customers, she drinks through her whole shift, several times I've had to wait for a machine becuase this bartender was busy playing video slots when she should have been working, I can go on and on. She makes you feel like dirt when you ask for help with an order or for change. Like you are just intruding on her life. I thought that was her job.? She really should not be working at a bar. Ruins the...
