First off I want to say this whole experience is based off me ordering through doordash. I have not actually been to this business just ordered from it. When the driver handed me the two boxes, I asked him if this was everything I ordered. He looked at me weird said yes and drove off. I asked because I ordered 6 items and could not figure out how all of it could fit in these two small boxes. Unfortunately it did all fit, it was just not as described. Id like to point out I am aware that doordash obviously has higher prices. But with the description and the higher price we were led to believe we were getting something different. We got 3 "Jumbo" cupcakes for 6.95 each. 2 peanut butter brownies at 3.75 each and a oatmeal butter scotch cookie wedge for 1.85 dollars a piece. Cupcakes- Overall they tasted good. But what was disappointing is that the picture made them look like they were very large. They appeared to be the size of the old Costco muffins and they are titled as Jumbo cupcakes. They were normal size cupcakes. Half of which were frosting. Which I didn't mind a lot of frosting, but my wife did not like it at all. She thought it was way too much and not balanced. Here is how each cupcake was: Red velvet jumbo cupcake- Rich flavor, chocolate chips on top/ in the middle, then a thick layer the cream cheese frosting. It was delicious. This was the one I got. I thought it was great, just as previously mentioned it was way smaller than expected and a ton of frosting. Carrot cake Jumbo cupcake- we both thought it was good tasting, but weird chunks in it that aren't listed anywhere what they are. It said no raisins and no nuts but we were not sure what the chunks were...apples maybe. Plain Jane Jumbo cupcake- kid loved it, ate more of this, then he normally eats of a typical cupcake. Chocolate peanut butter joy brownie- this was the size of two small adult fingers. Again not what I expected. It also was just a basic okay brownie with a decent peanut butter frosting. It was fine. As for the cookie...we'll we haven't tried it yet, after the other disappointments. But again, it was very small. Someone took a smaller sized standard cookie and then cut it into quarters. This is one of those quarters. So essentially nothing felt like it was worth the massively overpriced items we got. Look, if it was described and pictured acurately and I paid half the price, this review would be much different. With that said, I Would absolutely not go here again unless the prices were cut in half. It is highly unlikely doordash was that much higher in price.

I wanted to support this weird, old school Portland bakery and they had so many creative cakes on their website, I was excited to order here. I spent half an hour sitting with the owner, ordering this cake and did not get what I wanted. The owner asked the occasion and I said it was my friend’s 40th birthday. She immediately got on her phone and started shopping for cake toppers, which I never asked for. She sent one with sparky crystals and told me I needed to order it right away. She never asked what I envisioned for the cake but I went along with it, thinking she has won all these awards, so she knows what she’s doing. I ordered the topper, and had it sent to the bakery. She asked what flavor I wanted and I asked if she had FunFetti, which she did not. She said, “maybe your friend just wants sprinkles” and called her employee over to show me all their pink sprinkles. I told her I wanted a mixture of different sized sprinkles and especially liked the large round sprinkles. I knew I wasn’t going to get the unique cake I wanted but figured if it had all these sprinkles on the sides, it would be something nice to look at. I asked her to write the greeting on top of the cake, specifically, as she had proposed to do it on the cardboard, which I didn’t want. I had a nice time chatting with the owner, but she is bulldozer and didn’t really listen to, or ask, what I wanted. I should have spoken up, but I kept thinking about all the good reviews and figured she’s just eccentric and she’s gonna end up making something cool. Nope. She embedded the topper into the cake (gross), didn’t write on the cake, and there were sparse sprinkles. A single layer cake was $125, and I spent $9 on the topper and I also tipped them. It’s a lot of money to spend to walk out with a cake that is boring, not what we agreed on, and not at all what I wanted. I did text her to let her know I was disappointed, but didn’t hear back. I also let the staff know but they didn’t say anything in response. In addition to the unimpressive design, the cake was dry. I tried slices of cake there last year and they were also very dry (their cake counter faces the sun and I think it impacts the cakes). I thought the place was cool and weird and I have been waiting for an occasion to buy a whole cake and give them another chance. I won’t be returning or recommending.

We will NOT be buying our wedding cake from Piece of Cake Bakery. I was pretty appalled by their customer service. We arrived 15 minutes early for our 5pm consultation and tasting. A young woman behind the counter greeted us and politely informed us that the owner was in the back with another couple. She offered us to begin sampling or to have a drink of coffee or tea, to which we declined, wanting to wait for the consultation. We were happy to wait, given our early arrival. However, we wound up waiting 45 minutes, that's 30 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. At one point, about 25 minutes after our scheduled appointment, the young woman who greeted us pointed us out to the owner. She, and another employee made a big show about how they "didn't notice" us. They then asked us at least 3 separate times if we wanted coffee or tea, and seemed somewhat offended that we politely declined. The owner then told the second employee to get us set up tasting while she continued to work with the other couple. So, we stood up and walked into what is apparently their tasting room, but was a messy room with antique (i.e. falling apart) tables covered in deteriorating holiday decorations. The second employee followed us into the "tasting room" and then turned towards two women who were seated and already eating. She quickly realized they were not us, though we were standing right next to her. While we stood there, she asked us what cakes we would like to try. We informed her "everything without nuts or coconut," as I have allergies to these. She then asked another time "are you sure you don't want tea or coffee?" When we declined, she turned to walk away. I stopped her, and asked if we should sit at the large table covered with tool and art supplies, or at the dilapidated couch and broken apart coffee table. She implied we could sit "wherever." So, we sat at the couch, and waited another 5-10 minutes, listening to the owner continue to work with the other couple and making no acknowledgement for our presence. The second employee returned with a plate of cakes, and begins to announce what they are, pointing first to an almond cake with apparently no memory of my allergy. My fiance and I then eat our cakes in silence with no one to describe their services, prices, or how to arrange for pick up and drop off. We actually finished the entire plate of cakes before the owner finished up with the other couple. She then let us know she would be with us in a moment, and went to tend to other business before sitting down at a table with us. She wrote our information down on a white piece of paper with a sharpie. I showed her a picture of what I wanted (a cake that looks like a tree), and she got excited and went to get her own phone to show me pictures of something similar. She then showed me a picture of a yellow frosting cake with a cat on it. I tried to be polite, but I guess my flummoxed expression was fairly obvious, because she got rather offended and insisted she was just trying to show me a picture of how they can do cupcake tiers (though the picture was a sheet cake surrounded by cupcakes not on tiers). After talking about prices and how to cut costs, she was about to excuse us, and seemed bothered by me stating we had more flavors we would like to try. Then it took her another 5-10 minutes to gather the flavors I had requested. She brought them to us, and left us alone while we ate. When she returned she arrogantly announced "I knew you'd love them!" and then gave us one word answers when we asked if we could replace a chocolate filling with peanut butter on one of the cake. When we were all said and done, she pretty much rushed us out the door. The cakes were edible. Nothing too special, but definitely not worth all the fuss. We'll be going...

Listen I never leave reviews but on this one I have to. I spoke with Marilyn from the bakery. I explained my situation my daughter was turning 16 on Friday the 6th this was the 4th of Sept. She said she would be able to make a cake for my daughter that was red velvet shaped in a heart purple and glittery with 16 silver stars. She instantly told me it would be $270 for that cake. Ok that's a no go I explained what we wanted and So she started spurting out ideas. Let's do a round cake I said that was fine next she said she had clear glitter so that wasn't a problem. The silver stars. Lavender coloring . With a gold banner or what not . I ended up paying $110.00 for this cake. I go to pick it up yesterday and mind you the customer before was purchasing a cake it was double layered about 9-10 inches round piled with light chocolate dark chocolate. The baker there had did some type of colorful border for her wrote on the cake. I mean her carrying the cake it looked like it weighed 20lbs. The customer paid $101.00 for it still nine dollars less than what I paid . The baker goes and grabs my daughter cake for me opens the box and I about died. The cake was single layered maybe a centimeter larger then the size of a baseball round. All white(remember she said color ) only with a little lavender border 16 candy stars like the candies you can purchase at your local grocery store baking aisle. It was on a gold cardboard cut out with writing on it. Some type of glitter but nothing like we spoke of. I asked.the person helping me how the lady before myself paid less then what I did for a cake 6x larger then my daughter's cake .she said she don't do the pricing. When I spoke to Marilyn when I got home. She said you wanted something special u wanted color we charge extra. I said the cake is WHITE that's no color besides the border. The candies I could have bought at Albertsons. She said well the taste of it is worth that much. Actually no I'm sorry but it really wasn't what she made it out to be. For $110 dollars I should have walked out with a cake that the customer before me had. That's bad business. She advertised this "award winning cake " and what I got was a plain white cake that honestly I could have done myself. As a business person why didn't she just mention oh you can go into the bakery and purchase one for less. Instead she charged my card and gave me a baseball sized white cake that was not in mine and my families opinion "award winning". Very disappointing I ended up going an purchasing a cake from Safeway which I should have done with from the get go. And paid 3/4 less...sorry piece of cake bakery but your customer service, prices and overall "award winning' cake just wasn't what you...
