Hidden gem, but don't come if you're mean/annoying, plz
Came here with my partner and a close friend who recommended it, and it's a dive bar, but holy hell, the food, the people and atmosphere.
If you are looking for something cluby with lights, this isn't it. If you are looking for a place that only calm and fun people go to play table tennis like it's there last night on earth or 8-Ball like the fate of their first born child depends on a best 2 out of 3, this is your place.
I was not expecting the food to be anything special for the price and atmosphere (this is my first time here) but WOW. There was no part of the menu that I tasted that wasn't unique and uniquely well executed. We ordered a patty melt, large side of fries and the Mac N Cheese, and they were otherworldly.
If you want a swanky place to take your trust fund lady-friend, this probably isn't it, but if you want somewhere you can let your guard down, eat well, and live free from BS, this is your spot. I wish I'd been coming...
Read moreDUB'S!!! Marie's kitchen has recently been taken over by Dub's soul food and the combination makes for an awesome experience! Marie's is a dive bar that was once a strip club, which explains the faded velvet decor. Definitely a one-of-a-kind place, with cheap drinks and a good cross mix of patrons. Now for the food - YES, YES, YES!! We ordered the catfish platter and the famous fried chicken dinner. Both come with 2 sides (mac & cheese, mashed potatoes or greens) and cornbread. Everything is made to order and the plates are piled high with deliciousness!! Dub, himself, came out to say hello and make sure everyone was enjoying the food. Everyone definitely was. This is the kind of place you happen upon and wonder later if it really was the way you remember it. Marie's is a throwback to another time, with the sheen of age embraced, rather than concealed. Dub's is solid, honest, home cooked food that makes you wish the word "diet" didn't exist. This is like taking a food vacation and it's...
Read moreI happened to be walking through the neighborhood and ran across this place, so I walked in to check it out. At first, the ping pong table lured me only to find out its ping pong night. So I started to play a couple of games. The people there were cool and friendly. I saw that they had food which started at 5pm. They have a mac n cheese on their menu, so I went for that. I had no expectations, and this mac n cheese took me on a curve ball. This was some of the best mac n cheese I have ever had. Im not exaggerating. It was so good i bought another. I got it without the breadcrumbs. This lady doesn't mess around. She is the real deal. Solid little food spot. I'll be coming...
