Blue Bird Tavern — Restaurant in Portland

Last personal experience: I walked by here and thought I would pop in for a beverage on a very hot day it being a good midway between errands and home. They held my ID for not kidding ten minutes. The RENOWNED (not well known but renowned) bartender (older woman with a terrible attitude) did not want my business even though I was quiet and polite. I decided I didn’t want to be served when I got my ID back so she cursed at me and acted like I created a problem when I did nothing of the sort. I am laid back and chill and honestly her agression set me off my stride just a little so I left. One of her patrons started a fight with a dude in a passing car after yelling at me for not taking the bartender's bad attitude bait. This is a pretty typical mid afternoon interaction. I don't go there in the evenings cause people there get sloppy. Lots of fights and couple spats. Probably most people spend closer to $20-30+ drinks are about $5-$6+ and it never occurred to me this place must legally serve food cause I've never seen anyone order it given the bar is next to other yum...

I stopped in here on a Mini St Paddy's day pub crawl and they were all about celebrating the day. So much so they tried to serve me Guinness...... in a can... that was pretty darn clueless of them. In all fairness they did offer to put it in a glass for me but I didn't trust them to pour it (little known fact, in Ireland, before you can sell Guinness on tap, you have to go through a training course on how to pour it provided by a Guinness sales rep..). My first time walking into this establishment with my husband, a man was ahead us as we walked in the back door, the bartender was at a video poker machine playing and she asked the man in front of us, if she could get him something, didn't even ask us if we wanted a drink or anything. She continued to play video poker. She did leave the machine to go help someone at the bar. She then came back to her machine, still didn't ask is if we wanted a drink.
