My friend and I checked this spot out and when we got there there were two people working. One guy was making his order when we got in and once he was done it took some time for us to even be acknowledged and they seemed really busy despite there being maybe only one party of three and two other parties of two seated ? Once we had someone help us, we tried ordering an arepa which they said we couldn’t get because they were out and then we tried ordering another arepa and then we were told that was also out. Why weren’t we just told this to begin with instead of having us look for another item to order ? No big deal, we had our orders taken and sat down. We received my friends drink not long after and then then about 15 minutes later wondering if they had forgotten my order, I received a drink I didn’t order. So I had to place another order for my latte. Another 15 minutes I finally received my simple latte order. After another 20 minutes we realize “wait what about our arepa order?” Pretty sure all they have to do is warm it up. When we went up to let them know they were still busy despite there only being no line and only about 6 people total inside seated. They seemed apologetic for forgetting yet another part of our order, but also inconvenienced and bothered that we expected a refund because we simply didn’t have more time to sit and wait for our orders. They did give us a refund, but this place is disorganized and the coffee did not leave an impression at all. Would...
Read moreTook a little long to get our food and drink, for example we ordered at 10:13 and we just got our last dish at 11:22 and our first dish was served 20 mins before. I think it's because of a small oven.
Additionally, was told one of the dishes was dropped and he was super kind and honest. They didn't serve it to me. I really appreciate the honesty because I'm super neurotic about germs and would totally come back not just for the food but the kind staff.
They definitely serve some of my favorite empanadas in Portland. I really love Colombian empanadas.
--- drink --- Drip coffee ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ super smooth it's what you'd expect but not bitter in the slightest
Boosted espresso with matcha ⭐⭐⭐⭐ not super sugary, which we appreciated tastes like it'll heal you
--- food --- Corn and cheese empanada ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ my favorite imagine Korean corn cheese from kbbq but in an empanada
Egg and cheese arepa ⭐⭐⭐⭐ was told this was a classic and I can totally see why didn't love the egg inside for some reason, maybe it didn't taste fresh or was a little too hard for me I bet if the yolk was running I would have been all over it, but because I want fond of the egg, I wouldn't reorder...
Read moreMy gf and I came here for a coffee and pastry. We waited in an awkwardly long, winding and slow moving line to the register, got our order in, and then waited for roughly 15 minutes for a drip coffee and an iced Americano. Not a great start. Then we waited another 20 minutes before asking where the croissant and arepas were? They had no idea, and the guy said "there's a chance we lost it" and then fist bumped my gf? Nicely done...we waited another 10 minutes, still nothing. My gf then asked for our money back. Of course, they couldn't find the order. They eventually just pulled some cash out of the register and we happily gtfo of there after roughly 1 hour. All in all a very very poor experience. I'll give them props for a nice asethetic though. Prices and service were unacceptable. Could be a good spot, but the operation...
