I'll start with I don't generally write negative reviews, so I put this together in hopes of it being helpful to customers and owners. Last night I decided to give this new pizza place a try. My first thought before even walking in the door was – “BOLD MOVE”, moving in right next to 10 Barrell and Star Pizza in the old Rouge brewing spot that went out of business a few years back. I wonder what their business strategy and product differentiation will be to set them apart from these solid neighborhood pizza players. Will it be on price, quality, creativity? I was interested to find out…
My honest assessment here is that the only thing nice was the renovated space. I found the food quality and flavor below either those of their competitors and at a rather high price of about $30/pizza. The pizza is Detroit style, and in reading the other reviews, some people seem to like it. I’m not sure it’s my thing – overly doughy in my view with little topping. We also got a salad, which came un-dressed, obviously just bag letters with generic cheese and croutons – could have been picked up in a bag at Safeway and I’d have not known the difference.
There was no service component. You have to order from the register and then pick your food up as it comes out (don’t get me started on restaurants asking for a tip at the register but having no service).
I’d say the only thing nice here was the renovated space – but both Star and 10 have nice spaces too.
I want people to be successful in their business ventures – and I think unless these guys give some serious thought to their product offerings, they could be in trouble quickly. In my case next time I’ll just be going back to Star only 2...
Read moreVisiting here was the biggest letdown.
Called them with a couple of questions, one asking if there was seating to bring in my son to celebrate his 4th-grade graduation, she said it was first come first serve but there was plenty of seating. Then I said I'd like to get a pepperoni pizza, long pause then put me on hold, then told me I have to order online, dumb but..ok.
Walked on over there and there were FOUR people there and nowhere to sit and eat. I wanted to order drinks but the lady set down my pizza and walked off (need to order those online too?) so we took our $30 pizza and ate SITTING ON THE SIDEWALK. We weren't even offered paper plates or napkins.
It was such a miserable experience I'm taking him to a different pizza place tomorrow.
Could have just leveled with me and said the place is not set up to eat there.

Read moreStopped in before a show to grab a slice of pizza. Was not aware a slice meant a cube of pizza. And unfortunately my tiny cube of pizza was burnt on the bottom so it wasn't very tasty! Didn't bother to ask for another due to the very disinterested cooks behind the counter who I watched flop the pizza on the counter with no worry about the quality or pride in what they were making.
Ended up getting a real slice of pizza at the music venue that was suprisingly excellent and cheaper canceling out this memory of dissapointment.
Hoping you will work on your portion sizes and pride of cooking so the next customers aren't as disappointed as I was. Wish I could've left a better review but I'm just being honest for the...
