Gracie’s Apizza is just awesome. Whether you live in St. Johns, or are vising Portland, make it out to Gracie’s for dinner. Especially if you are from the northeast US and are used to rockin pizza. This place has it all: great food, a curated beer and wine list, friendly staff, and excellent ambiance.

The owner/chef seems to have a wealth of experience and knows quality ingredients. They make just about everything by hand. The menu is the perfect size, and all pizzas are 12”, this allows guests to order a variety of toppings and try them all. I would suggest the standard tomato pie, it may be uncommon to some folks, but is the gold standard where I’m from. No matter what you choose, you can really taste the freshness of the sauce and integrity of the dough. The menu includes several seasonal sides too that include unique ingredients sourced from surrounding growers. Be sure to ask about specials and try the homemade ice cream sundae!

Seating inside Gracie’s is warm and intimate and allows guests to see a professional kitchen staff slinging authentic pies. Outside is a communal seating area shared by several restaurants. This makes Gracie’s ideal for families, dogs, date night, or a group that can’t agree on what type of food they want for dinner. There’s an outdoor fireplace for damp nights. We ate Gracie’s three times during our most recent trip to Portland. Do yourself a favor and check this place out before they either sell out of pizza, or the line is wrapped around the corner of the building. You will not be...

I don't really write reviews but after our fifth or sixth great experience I feel I must!

Gracie's is making the best pizza I've had on the West Coast and maybe the best I've had in the US, full stop. The classics are amazing (margarita is back on the menu and it's incredible, but the tomato pie is an absolute showstopper) and the rotating specials are both creative and perfectly balanced. Great small selection of beer, wine, and cocktails that you can't go wrong with, plus homemade ice cream. Even the salad is fantastic. Sheesh.

We have dined in and taken out and both experiences are great - if you want to dine in, I recommend going on Thursday or getting there early to grab a seat as they get quite busy Fri/Sat evenings. Takeout is great and holds up super well eaten at home - but you miss out on watching the action as all the cooking and prep work is done right in front of the dining area. Prices are more than reasonable: two pizzas is dinner for two adults for

There are too many good things to say about Gracie’s. My man Craig is out here pouring his heart and soul into beautiful food, and it shows. My spouse and I have been anxiously awaiting the opening of the new space, and it’s absolutely beautiful. A good size of indoor and outdoor seating, lovely decor and fun personal touches. The quality of the food is excellent. Craig goes out of his way to source fresh, innovative ingredients and crafts them into gorgeous pies. The dough is prepared so well, and the pies cook beautifully in the wood fired oven. I highly recommend trying the daily pie, they’re always fun, delicious and creative. The tomato pie is probably my favorite, it’s simple, classic, and so tasty. There is also homemade ice cream, appetizers, and great wine selections. I think the thing I appreciate the most about Gracie’s, other than the great quality of the food, is that everything is done with genuine love and attention. It’s a staple in the St. John’s community and I love that the space cultivates that. Yes, you’ll probably have to wait an hour for your food when it’s busy, but it’s worth it to me. Every time we’ve gone it’s been...

An absolute treat! We’ve been fans of Gracie’s for some time, and were thrilled to hear they were moving into the old Cathedral Cafe space. On our first visit with friends we ordered four different pies - we loved them all! Two stand out favorites were the Daily and Mozz with sausage. But also really enjoyed the Briny and Ricotta pie. For those folks who love crust, this is my favorite! Thin, fluffy, and crispy. I don’t know how they do it but it is so tasty! + the wood fire oven adds so much flavor. When our group wasn’t reveling in the flavor combinations of each pie, we were admiring the renovated space. From the fun wallpaper and wood ceiling to the intimate touches that showcase the spirit of the man behind the pie. I feel so lucky to live just down the way. Other helpful Information: First come - first serve. Order at the counter and find an open seat! Beverages include rotating beers and wine. Along with other regular drinks. Parking is limited, but the US Bank parking lot across the street is game after regular business hours.

The pizza crust is perfectly chewy with charred spots on top and leoparding on the underside. The topping combinations are straightforward and minimal, letting the quality of each ingredient and the crust itself shine. In addition to the crust, the ricotta was the star of my visit to Gracie’s, both as a creamy, salty centerpiece to the Ricotta Pie, and as part of the incredible calzone. I usually avoid calzones because they are so heavy and doughy, but the calzone at Gracie’s is as artful as the pizza. It manages somehow to be both delicate enough to feel refined and also sturdy enough to pick up and eat with your hands without falling apart. The outdoor seating area is lovely on a warm summer evening. Much respect to the chef for running the whole thing himself. Not long after we ordered, a “Sold Out” sign appeared on the front door. With pies like that, I’m not surprised people are eating them faster than he can make ‘em.
